To mark the upcoming 2014 Asian Games, officially known as the XVII Asiad, Tissot has announced several commemorative timepieces which will celebrate the event. The most luxurious is an elegant Powermatic 80 model. This watch like all Tissot 17th Asian Games Incheon watches will be produced in the limited quantity of symbolic 2,014 pieces.
The exceptional timepiece from Tissot is powered with the new Powermatic 80 automatic movement that comes with the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse Chronomètres) certification. The men’s version of the watch is housed in a round 316L stainless steel case which sizes 41mm in diameter and 9.75mm in thickness, while the ladies’ model also features stainless steel case but in moderate size of 33mm in diameter to fit perfectly with a gentle female’s wrist.
Both versions are shielded with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals with antireflective coatings and each of them features a silk printed glass case back with the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 logo and a red taking from the sun of the Olympic Council of Asia. Water resistance of the case is assured up to the pressure of 50 meters (about 165 feet). The watch comes with a solid stainless steel bracelet which is secured with a butterfly clasp and push-buttons.
Tissot Powermatic 80 Luxury Automatic Asian Games 2014 Special Edition intended for men comes in two versions with the referent numbers T086.407.11.201.00 and T086.407.11.201.01. They both feature carbon fiber style black dials, while the ladies’ model (ref. T086.207.11.111.01) boasts an elegant silver one.
These special editions are among the most expensive ones in a Tissot 17th Asian Games Incheon series. Each of them can be purchased for $975. Tissot made a brilliant marketing move by marking the Asian Games with special editions considering the fact that tha Asian market is the world’s largest; China has a population of 1.3 billion, India 1.2 billion, Indonesia 246 million people… Bearing this in mind, the Le Locle-base manufacturer will probably be one of the most satisfied participants of the upcoming XVII Asiad.
The Asiad is the largest sporting event in Asia which is scheduled to take place in Incheon, South Korea from September 19 to October 4, 2014.
