Organizers of the Swiss Anti-Counterfeiting Day which will be held on March 22, 2013, have announced a short film competition on the theme “United against Piracy”. The competition is opened to the public until 7 December, when the best works will be revealed on-line for the public voting.
The illegal network of fake goods extends to all five continents and it represents an important source of finance for mafia-like organizations. In order to raise public awareness of the harmful effects caused by the fake goods industry, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, in collaboration with the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie will mark the 2013 edition of Swiss Anti-Counterfeiting Day by presenting the best short movies about this global problem. Wide exposure of these films has a goal to inform potential buyers of counterfeited products about possible consequences.
Two other sectors that are seriously affected by the problem of piracy and illegal copies (the pharmaceutical industry and the audiovisual sector) also participate in this project. Thus, those who get inspired by the United against Piracy.competition can choose among three themes: Watch counterfeiting, Fake pharmaceutical products and Piracy of artistic works.
At the start of 2013, shortlisted movies will be presented on the STOP PIRACY website, for a public vote. The work that collects most votes of Internet users will receive the Public Prize, while a jury consisting of eminent Swiss personalities will also choose its favorite film for the Jury Prize. Each laureate will receive a prestige watch on Swiss Anti- Counterfeiting Day.
A movie should not last longer than 1 minute 30 seconds. It can be silent or spoken in French, German or English.
