Cartier has decided to revamp its model from three years ago. As it will be unveiled at the upcoming SIHH 2015 event, the redesigned Rotonde de Cartier Reversed Tourbillon watch is made with a novel dial that ditches the previously used Arabic numerals scale. Its skeletonized face which features exposed functional components of its reversed movement is in this instance supplemented solely with two off-centered hands and a radiating guilloche motif. Made with a golden face and the same kind of housing, the basic version of the watch will be limited to 100 pieces and sold at the price of around $124,000. There will be additional luxurious variants of the model which will be scarcer and pricier. These are: a version with a diamond-set bezel; another one with a platinum case and diamonds on the dial, and, finally, the most lavish one with a seven figure price and with gems all over its platinum housing, bracelet and dial.
As it was the case when the model from the Rotonde de Cartier lineage was launched in 2011, the novel version of the timepiece is centered on the inverted movement of the watch. The same caliber 9458 MC is the feature that the model structures around both its functioning and appearance. The reversed movement has its floating tourbillion exposed at the lower part. Except the tourbillon carriage, one can also notice the exposed gear-train, as well as the barrel and the mainspring of the movement. Because of its reversed set-up, the more exciting side of the movement is on the front. The rear side that can also be seen through the transparent case-back shows the full plate movement with the Geneva striping motif. Little of it is skeletonized, or to be precise, almost nothing except the winding spring.
Caliber 9458 MC integrates 19 jewels and 167 components in its construction. It beats at the frequency of 21,600, while its single barrel stores enough power reserve to keep it running for 52 hours. Its outstanding level of quality and high-end finishing is guaranteed with the Geneva seal certificate.
As it has been pointed out, the basic difference between the revamped new version of the watch and the original model lies in the appearance of the dial which has been stripped of the previously used numerals. Its central decoration is a refined sun-ray guilloche motif. The watch has both its dial and the case made of white gold. Unlike the case, the dial does not have a rhodium-based treatment which gives the watch a lovely appearance that is caused with the combination of two shades of white gold. As for the size, the case is 46.2 mm wide and 12.5 mm thick, just like its predecessor.
Additional Luxurious Versions
Except for the basic version which is in this instance very luxurious on its own, there will also be three other variants of the watch which will be even more valuable. The first one of these will include a diamond-set bezel. It will be launched in 50 copies and will be available at the price of $207,800. Additionally, there will be two more versions with cases made in platinum which will both have gem decoration. The cheaper one with precious stones solely on its bezel will feature the price tag of $538,300 and will be released in a restricted series of 20 pieces. Finally, the most lavish version of redesigned Rotonde de Cartier Reversed Tourbillon will be made with a platinum bracelet and completely covered with sparkly stones. There will be just five copies of the watches of this kind and they will cost as much as $1,418,800.
