The latest addition to the Romain Jerome’s family of watches is a new limited edition piece created as a tribute to Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) which is a leading global financial hub for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region. This exclusive newcomer is named Romain Jerome DIFC-DNA and it celebrates the manufacturer’s partnership with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the Middle East’s leading retailer of luxury Swiss watches. The watch was unveiled last month at the Dubai Watch Week which is a global event dedicated to the craftsmanship and innovation in watch industry.

The Gate Building which is the DIFC’s headquarters was the first building developed on this financial free zone in Dubai. Consequently, Romain Jerome DIFC-DNA incorporates several original screws from this iconic structure. The new Romain Jerome timepiece is based on the Skylab model and it houses a round, stainless steel case incorporating satin-finished skeletonized lugs and polished paws. The 44mm case features an impressive rusted steel bezel incorporating the donated screws from the iconic Gate Building. The alloy has been melted with watchmaking steel and then rusted, oxidized and stabilized to preserve such a single effect.

The new DIFC-DNA is powered by the impeccable caliber RJ004-M manual-winding mechanical movement that has been fully skeletonized to show its inner beauty. The 3-layered skeleton structure of the mechanism boasts a distinctive gray NAC finish. The 21 jewels movement oscillates at the rapid frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour (4 Hz) and it is capable to store enough energy to keep the watch working for approximately 2 days (48 hours).

The movement also features subtle touches of purple which is the official color and symbol of the Dubai Watch Week. The small seconds sub-dial indicators, as well as the RJ logo, are lacquered in purple. Furthermore, purple stitches have been also sewn on the integrated alligator leather strap which keeps the watch secured to the wrist with a steel pin buckle. The exclusive DIFC-DNA is constructed to provide decent water resistance up to 30 meters (about 100 feet).

Romain Jerome DIFC-DNA (ref. RJ.M.AU.023.03) is produced in the limited series of only seven pieces which are available only at Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons in the Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
