The luxurious watchmaker has just presented its new RM38 Tourbillon watch that yet-unnamed sprinter will be running with at the Olympic Games in London. This announcement turned out as a great marketing trick, since it has immediately started speculations about the name of the newest Richard Mille’s ambassador. If it is going to be obvious, it is one of Jamaican sprinters. Usain Bolt? Probably, it is not possible. If the renowned brand comes with a surprise, could it be the great South African sprinter, Oscar Pistorius?

Since the sprinter’s name cannot be revealed until three days after the closing ceremony, due to Olympic Game’s rules, we can at least take a guess. The new RM’s ultra-light tourbillon comes with a combination of yellow, green and black colors, which definitely reminds on the Jamaican flag. However, these are also the colors of a national dress, worn by South African sensation, Oscar Pistorius.

Also known as “Blade Runner”, Oscar Pistorius will appear inLondonas the first double amputee runner to compete at the Olympic Games. He will run in the 400m and the 4 x 400 m relay races, using Cheetah Flex Foot Carbon Fiber transtibial artificial limbs. This amazing sportsman is the world record holder for the sport class T44 in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. After his first international competition for able-bodied athletes, in 2007, there were a lot of debates whether he has advantages over athletes without prosthetic limbs. Finally, Pistorius got the promotion to compete inLondon2012, which will surly be the historic day for sport. Besides, it seems like the pretty good moment for signing a new ambassador.

Now, let us go back on the first supposition. Which one of superb Jamaican sprinters will wear this ultra-light timepiece? Since the biggest star of athletics, Usain Bolt has a very strong contract with Hublot, the next “suspects” are Asafa Powell and Yohan Blake. The first one was the world’s greatest sprinter and the holder of the previous 100m world record. However, Blake is the rising star and the man who recently won Usain Bolt in both 100 m and 200 m races. That describes him as the highly interesting investment.

Richard Mille has been already promoting its ultra-light materials and cutting-edge technologies on the wrists of a tennis star, Rafael Nadal, and a famous golfer, Bubba Watson. We will wait for a few more days to find out who the newest brand ambassador is.
