For the second year of the collaboration with the luscious Polo Club Saint-Tropez complex, Richard Mille has made a special edition of its RM 030 model. The new limited edition which will be sold in the brand’s boutiques across Europe and the Middle East is made in 50 copies and in the colors of the Polo Club Saint-Tropez. The sizable tonneau-shaped watch with a titanium body and a ceramic bezel is based on the watchmaker’s in-house automatic movement with a declutchable rotor which provides additional indications for its power reserve and date.
Richard Mille RM 030 Polo de Saint-Tropez marks the connection of the Swiss watchmaker with one of the best known polo complexes. Polo Club Saint-Tropez is a magnificent complex located in the south of France. Every summer, it is the setting for a number of international polo tournaments. This year, there will be six of them and Richard Mille will be the major sponsor of the three top ones, among which are two upcoming Masters tournaments.
The new limited series dedicated to the high-end sport and the famed French club is not too exciting on the technical side, since it is just a personalized version of RM 030 model which has been around for quite some time. These altered details are navy blue and white accents which match the official colors of Polo Club Saint-Tropez, as well as its logo which is etched on the transparent case-back of the watch. By the way, the housing of the watch is made of brushed titanium (with the length of 50 mm, width of 42.75 mm and the thickness of 13.95 mm) and includes sapphire sections on both front and back. The bezel is made of ceramic AZT material, while the strap of choice is made of gray rubber and it locks with a titanium pin buckle.
All RM 030 watches and this special edition of it as well run on self-winding RMAR1 caliber which possesses free sprung-balance with variable inertia. The skeltonized movement features a declutchable rotor which is detached when the power reserve reaches 50 hours, five hours shy of its full power storage, which is provided with the included twin barrels. This option prevents over-winding and improves chronometric results. It is possible to see whether the rotor is declutched since the watch has an indication for it on the top of its skeletonized dial. Other indications include a power reserve display at the left, a vertical date window at the seven o’clock position, as well as three central hands.
Richard Mille RM 030 Polo de Saint-Tropez is already available in the brand’s boutiques in London, Paris, Geneva, Dubai and Abu-Dhabi.
