Rebellion is presenting its latest creation, the automotive-inspired 540 Magnum Tourbillon Watch that perfectly reflects its creators’ experience and expertise.
The new Rebellion timepiece is equipped with the REB T-14 movement that is capable to provide impressive 14 days of power reserve. Power is generated by twin mainspring barrels which are arranged in series for optimal performance. Each barrel is relief-engraved with inspirational words PASSION, SPEED, REBEL and EXTREME, VICTORY, GLORY. These words show the watch’s connection with endurance car racing, and they also show watchmaker’s ethos of creating modern watches that challenges the horological establishment.
The 38 jewels movement is developed by a renowned Swiss movement constructor, David Candaux, and it consists of 490 components. This caliber features a large-diameter, ceramicized-magnesium tourbillon cage. The main-plate and ¾ back plate are respectively made from lightweight aluminum and race-inspired carbon fiber, setting the tone for a cutting-edge sandwich of aluminum and carbon fiber layers through the mechanism. The back of the movement is engraved with the words REBELLION 540 MAGNUM, 38 JEWELS, REB T14, D CANDAUX and SWISS.
The barrels, titanium bridges and gear train feature automotive architecture and motifs, thus providing a technically rich backdrop to the skeletonized hour and minute hands, skeletonized retrograde seconds lever at the 6 o’clock position and two power reserve displays: the first one at-a-glance, chain-driven arrowhead at the 9 o’clock position, with an additional precision indicator on a roller at the 7 o’clock position. The beating heart of the watch, its balance wheel, rotates in the raised tourbillon cage located at the 4 o’clock position.
Rebellion 540 Magnum Tourbillon is housed in a colossal, almost-square case which sizes 46mm x 56.7mm and is 19.6mm thick. The case is designed by the renowned horological designer, Eric Giroud. The oversized case is crafted from carbon fiber and shielded with sapphire crystals that feature compound curves, beveled edges and anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The naturally finished carbon fiber with visible, fibrous strands is yet another nod towards the realm of racing cars. The case is constructed to provide water resistance of up to 30 meters (about 100 feet).
The new Rebellion is produced in the limited series of only 10 pieces. Each of them is attached to a race-ready natural rubber strap, ending with a titanium double folding buckle.
