Last week, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, Parmigiani Fleurier, presented an original watch in a single copy. The new Transforma Elky timepiece is dedicated to a professional poker player, Bertrand Grospellier, who is better known under the pseudonym Elky. The French professional poker player personally designed this novelty with Parmigiani Fleurier’s team during his last visit to their manufacture.
This unique watch – transformer consists of two watch heads and it can be used as wrist, pocket or desktop timepiece. The wrist watch is accessorized with a dark gray alligator leather strap, while the pocket watch comes with a stainless steel chain.
The first watch head is a Tonda Hemisphéres with a function of a second time zone. It is a logical choice for world travelers. Its double time display also features an indication of night and day so that the wearer will always be able to know the meridian of two time zones at a single glance. The watch is made in rose gold and decorated with painted fleur-de-lis. The back cover is encrusted with an engraving that shows the Bertrand’s credo: “No challenge, no glory”.
The second watch is a chronograph with a red dial which is encrusted with the Côtes de Geneve pattern. It is made with carbon, which makes it very light. At the top of the dial there is a Triple Crown symbol which commemorates Bertrand`s wins in three tournaments.
Parmigiani Transforma Elky is a multi-faceted watch that explains a lot about a French poker player who has won the European and World Poker Tour. “In order to excel at poker, importance of detail is crucial, nothing should be left to randomness”, says Bertrand. “Only a true passion can amount to such a level of expertise. These same qualities are what have captured me at Parmigiani Fleurier,” he concluded.
Bertrand Grospellier Elky is Parmigiani Fleurier’s ambassador since 2010. For these “Transforma” style watches Elky customized every single detail from the strap material to the dial color.
