Earlier this year, the Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier honors the American music scene with its “Tonda Woodrock” and “Tonda Woodstock” timepieces. Now it is time to pay homage to the famous Samba rhythm of the Brazil with the new Pershing Samba Madeira Watch.

Parmigiani Fleurier Pershing Samba Madeira Watch
The latest member of the Parmigiani Fleurier Pershing collection features a close-up of a guitar and a sound hole made-to-measure precisely to the dimensions of the cage of a tourbillon. The oscillation of tourbillon animates the piece and brings the guitar to life. Furthermore, the instrument has six strings as thin as human hair which are placed by hand.
The dial of the Pershing Samba Madeira timepiece features “Gibson and Brazil” patterns in wooden marquetry. It is colored in the colors of Brazilian flag: green, yellow, and dark blue. The inscription “Ordem e Progresso” which is the national motto of Brazil is placed above the stylized image of a guitar. The dial comprises appliqué indexes, delta-shaped hands coated with a luminescent substance and a power reserve indicator which is placed at the 12 o’clock position.
The watch that celebrates this cheerful Latin American country is animated with the caliber PF510 hand wound 30-second tourbillon movement. This caliber can store enough power to keep the watch ticking for a week (192 hours). The mechanism is hand-finished with fine beveling and Côtes de Genève decorations adorning the bridges. It is compiled on the 30 jewels, has a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour (3 Hz) and consists of 237 individual components, all made and assembled by hand.
