A Swiss manufacturer, Parmigiani Fleurier, has honored the famous artist Andre Saraiva with a new limited edition watch named Ovale Mister A. The Ovale collection is the new Parmigiani Fleurier’s line that comprises two more innovative watches: the Ovale Pantographe and Ovale Tourbillon.
Andre Saraiva was born in Sweden, but at the age of 10, he moved to Paris. In that time he became aware that graffiti is his preferred mode of expression. In France, his paintings have become very popular since the ‘90s of the last century. Mister A, which is his character, prefers to work at night while no one is looking. Today, he is an internationally-renowned artist whose reputation is increasing day by day as he continues to travel around the globe.
The main challenge in creation of this exquisite watch was to condense his identity and express it in the limited space offered by a watch dial.
A matte white dial with pictures of graffiti by Andre Saraiva is marked by applied hour indexes. The hour and minute hands are skeletonized to provide an unobstructed view on his graffiti.
There is also a sectored date window which is situated at the 6 o’clock position, while on the opposite side, at the 12 o’clock position there is an analog power reserve indicator. The power reserve counter depicts the mouth of Mister A. It is accompanied with two colored symbols reminiscent of the Eye of Horus portrayed in Ancient Egypt.
The dial, as well as the see-through case back of the watch, are protected with anti-reflective sapphire crystals. Through the screwed transparent case back, you can observe the work of the manufacturing caliber with manual winding Parmigiani PF110 equipped with two series-coupled barrels.
The hand wound mechanism is crafted from 18-karats yellow gold and consists of 227 parts. The movement is compiled on the 28 jewels, has a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour (3 Hz), functions of hours, minutes, date, power reserve and it is decorated with the Côtes de Genève pattern.
The Ovale Mister A. Limited Edition Watch is housed in a stainless steel case which measures 45mm x 37.6mm and which is 12mm thick. The case is constructed to resist water pressure up to 30 meters (approximately 100 feet).
The watch dedicated to the Andre Saraiva is produced in the ultra-limited series of only 10 pieces. Each of them is attached to a blue Hermes leather strap with a stainless steel buckle and each features individual number, “Hebdomadaire”, “Limited Edition” and “One of Ten” engravings on the case back.
