The renowned watchmaker extended its Contemporary Collection with a very special model that for the first time offers a combination of a 42 mm Luminor 1950 case and a white dial. By choosing this rarely used color of the interface and the unusual case size that compared to the lately popular diameters (44 mm and 47 mm) looks a slightly more elegant, Panerai has nicely refreshed the Luminor Marina 1950 line, while preserving the key characteristic and the unique shape of the original model that highly distinguish the Neuchâtel based brand.

The Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic (PAM00523) timepiece is powered with an in-house P.9000 Calibre self-winding mechanism which has already been used for Luminor 1950 watches, as well as for the models in a Radiomir range. Built of 197 parts, including 28 jewels, this movement incorporates two barrels that ensure the power-reserve of 72 hours, a balance wheel with adjusting screws, an Incabloc® anti-shock device, as well as an oscillating weight which, thanks to an automatic ratchet device, rotates in both directions. This high-end mechanism beats at the frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour. It is completely revealed through a sapphire crystal case-back.

In order to keep the proportions of the original model, while adapting the case to house the advanced mechanism, the renowned watchmaker just made a slight correction of a sapphire crystal on the dial side which is now les convex. The 42 mm case is made of highly resistant AISI 316L stainless steel. The round bezel and the cushion shaped case are nicely polished to make a contrast with the satin-finished surface of the characteristic lever device that protects the winding crown.

The bright dial ensures a superb readability even in the most extreme conditions, thanks to contrasting black Arabic numerals and luminescent dots markers. Black hour and minute hands are also covered with luminous markers. At the 3 o’clock position, there is a small date aperture, while the small seconds counter takes the 9 o’clock position.
