Officine Panerai has just presented its Special Edition watches that are exclusively made for the brand’s latest American boutiques in La Jolla – California, and Bal Harbour and Palm Beach – Florida. The Las Vegas Special Edition watch will follow later this year. The first model, chosen for the 2012 Boutique Special Edition is a Luminor Marina 44 mm.
The most original feature that distinguishes a new model from the classic Luminor Marina is a specially decorated case-back. Each boutique has a unique version with a case-back engraved with a distinctive city scene. Thus, the La Jolla SE pieces showcase the city’s famous rocky cove, while the Bal Harbour and Palm Beach watches come with characteristic images of palm tree-accented avenues and skylines. As it is announced, the Las Vegas Special Edition watches will come with the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. They will be dedicated to the recently opened Las Vegas, NV boutique in The Forum Shops at Caesars.
Panerai Luminor Marina 2012 Boutique Special Edition watch features a robust case, with the diameter of 44 mm. It is crafted in perfectly polished stainless steel that incorporates a brushed crown protector. The black dial of the watch features characteristic Arabic numerals and hour markers, as well as a small second sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position. The dial is perfectly readable, since all indices and hands are covered with SuperLuminova. Another distinction sign of Panerai’s Boutique Special Editions is a little image of a ‘Pig’ submarine – a transportation tool that Italian Navy Frogman used back in the 1940s. It is located at the 6 o’clock position.
The Luminor Marina 44 mm is powered with Panerai OP II manual-winding movement which is certified by C.O.S.C. as the chronometer. The watch is available with a brown leather strap and an additional rubber strap that is a part of an oversized “Limited Edition” box set.
The renowned Italian watchmaker is also planning to launch a Special Edition Radiomir 10 Days GMT 47 mm in polished steel, as well as a Luminor 1950 10 Days GMT Oro Rosso 2012 Special Edition watches that will also be decorated with appealing engravings, representing city images of Bal Harbour, Palm Beach and Las Vegas. Off course, each particular version will be only presented in a specialized boutique that it represents.
Located in the heart of Prospect Street, across the Pacific Ocean and the renowned La Valencia Hotel, the brand’s boutique in La Jolla offers a service centre, as well as a great choice of limited edition timepieces, with a special focus on watches fitted with in-house mechanisms. Marking the historic link between Officine Panerai and the Italian Navy, a simple, classic design of the boutique is inspired by the world of the sea, while materials used throughout the store have been carefully selected to recall the brand’s Florentine roots.
