To honor a successful partnership with WilliamsF1 Team, the Swiss watchmaker launched a sporty chronograph named Oris WilliamsF1 Team (ref. 01 773 7685 4184-Set RS). This contemporary designed timepiece is inspired by the high-tech cars of Formula One and it is produced in the limited series of 600 specimens to celebrate the WilliamsF1 Team’s 600th race.
The WilliamsF1 Team was founded in 1977 by Frank Williams and Patrick Head. For the past 36 years, the team has secured 297 podiums, 114 race wins and 16 World Championship titles.
This limited edition timekeeper is housed in an oversized stainless steel case with the diameter of 45mm. The massive case incorporates a black DLC stainless steel bezel with a tachymeter scale inscribed with Arabic numerals. On the right side, there is a screw-in crown and two chronograph pushers. The front side of the case features a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, while the case back is shielded with mineral crystal and comprises special engravings and a limitation number. The case construction provides water resistance of up to 100 meters (about 330 feet).
The Oris novelty comes with a matte black dial which is full of details inspired by motor sports. The dial comprises two chronograph sub-dials. A 30-minute chrono counter is located at the 12 o’clock position, while a 12-hour chronograph sub-dial, along with the date aperture, is placed at the 6 o’clock position. These two chronograph counters are rounded with glossy blue rings, and the same color has been used for sub-dial hands, as well as for the central chronograph seconds hand.
The hour and minute hands and hour markers are filled with superluminova for the best visibility under low light conditions. The Oris logo is situated next to the Arabic numeral three, while the logo of the WilliamsF1 Team is set on the opposite side, next to the numeral nine.
The heart of the new watch is the Oris caliber 773 mechanical movement which is based on Sellita SW 500. This automatic mechanism is quite efficient and reliable and it will keep the watch ticking for a long time. I almost forgot to mention, the movement comes with a red rotor which is visible through the transparent case back.
Oris WilliamsF1 Team Limited Edition Watch is attached to a black rubber strap with a stainless steel folding clasp. It is presented in a luxurious wooden box. The retail price of the new Oris in Switzerland is CHF 3,100 (approximately $3,430).
