In order to mark its partnership with Movember, the annual world-wide charity movement, the famous Swiss watchmaker launched a very special edition of its Pontos S Diver Watch, limited to just 11 pieces. Each piece comes engraved with the Movember moustache which is an interesting symbol of the movement that is pretty much connected with its creation, back in 2013. As a part of its engagement in this charitable action whose goal is to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, Maurice Lacroix will present its stunning timepieces to the International Man of Movember 2013 and the biggest fundraisers.
Ten years ago, a few friends in a pub in Melbourne, Australia decided to grow moustaches or better to say Mo’s (Aussie slang for moustache) for 30 days of November, just for fun. They involved an impressive number of friends in this silly action, and what started as a joke, following year evolved into serious charity event to eventually become the world’s largest non-government fund of men’s health programs, with official campaigns in 21 countries. These programs are specially committed to help fighting prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health. In 2012, more than 1.1 million men and women got involved in this movement, raising an impressive amount of $140 million.
This year, in November, men around the globe are trying again to bring back moustache into fashion, supported by women in their lives. Maurice Lacroix actively participates in the event as the official timekeeper. By launching the dedicated Pontos S Diver watch, in the limited edition of 11 pieces which clearly symbolize November, or should I say, Movember, the famous watchmaker will definitely inspire people to donate money for this noble cause.
The Pontos S Chronograph is currently one of the most attractive men’s diving timepieces on the market. Its bold appearance and contemporary style are something that makes high distinction in the world of mechanical sport watches. Its stainless steel case with the diameter of 43 mm features prominent pushers and a crown which, besides their practical purpose, play an important aesthetic role. An authentic NATO strap perfectly matches the design of the case, contributing to an overall modern sporty design.
The inner bezel is made of black brushed aluminum and it features a minute scale marked in orange. This ring can be rotated, serving as the valuable diving time indicator. At a black, sun-brushed dial, there are three sub-dials, counting 12 hours, 30 minutes and seconds. The watch is water-resistant to 200 meters (660 feet).
The Pontos S Chronograph Diver Watch is powered by a Valjoux 7750 self-winding movement which oscillates at the frequency of 28’800 vibrations per hour and ensures about 46 hours of power-reserve.
