The latest novelty from the Louis Vuitton is the exceptional Escale Spin Time model which, as the name suggests, incorporates the hour display principle of the Spin Time movement housed into the Escale case.
Louis Vuitton Escale Spin Time features a hand-painted dial which makes Escale dials so unique. The hours are indicated via 12 rotating cubes each marked with numerals on two sides, for 12 and 24-hour timekeeping (the watch shows time in 24-hour format).
They rotate on the hour, changing its position for 20 degrees a few seconds before the hour strikes, then snapping into place to display the hour. The current hour is shown by the hour on a cube, whilst the other hour cubes show hand-painted nautical flags. Each of 12 cubes has four faces of which two are for the hour numerals and another two feature nautical flags. They have been carefully hand rendered by using the process of pad printing which consists of transferring inks contained in depressions in the image, using a silicone rubber pad, one color at a time.
Minutes are read off the inner scale indicated by a white-tipped arrow that sticks out from behind the large central disc.
The contrariwise to other Spin Time models, Escale Spin Time only displays a single time zone. Its beating heart is the in-house manufactured caliber LV77 automatic movement that powers the hours and minutes with Spin Time display functions. The mechanism oscillates at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and it is capable to provide no less than 42 hours of power reserve.
The new Escale Spin Time Watch is housed in a brushed titanium case measuring 41mm in diameter and 11.2mm in thickness. There is a choice between matching or contrasting 18-karat white gold and pink gold bezel, horns and crown.
From the rear, the sapphire case back displays an aluminum disc coupled with oscillating weight that rotates precisely around large outlined “LV” in frosted glass. The water resistance of the Louis Vuitton Escale Spin Time is assured down to 30 meters (approximately 100 feet).
