The Swiss luxury watchmaker, Louis Moinet, has developed a special version of its successful model Geograph in honor of the 225th anniversary celebration of Australia. This stunning timepiece will be produced in an ultra-limited edition of only 30 pieces.
The new Geograph Australian Edition Watch by Louis Moinet is housed in a round case crafted from 316L stainless steel. Its masculine case measures 45.50mm in diameter and incorporates an interesting bezel, as well as two chrono push-pieces with an atlas engraving and the crown encrusted with the logo of Louis Moinet set on the right side of the case, at the 3 o’clock position.
This elegant, yet robust two-pusher automatic chronograph watch has a gorgeous dial that cleverly combines red, white and blue – the colors of the Australian national flag. The guilloché dial with a Côtes du Jura pattern comprises two chronograph subsdiary dials which are situated at 12 and 6 o’clock positions (30-minute and 12-hour), as well as a date window located at the 9 o’clock position.
Indications of hours and minutes are carried out by means of Gouttes de Rosée central hands, while next to the date aperture, there is a small second’s hand as a star. The dial surface is nicely rounded by the zone chapter ring with day and night indicators. The day zone is painted in silver, whilst the night zone has red indicators. The second time zone is indicated by a serpentine hand placed in the center of the dial.
The new Geograph Australian Edition Watch by Louis Moinet has numerous symbols, each representing one of the iconic Australian motifs, such as, for example, an engraving of six stars, representing the Australian national flag’s Southern Cross constellation set on the case back. Under the stars, there is a sailing ship engraving, as a tribute to a nautical explorer, Captain James Cook – the person who made the first recorded European contact with the eastern coastline of Australia.
The movement of the new Geograph Australian timepiece oscillates at the rapid frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides no less than 48 hours of power reserve when fully charged.
For the best comfort of the wearer, Louis Moinet attached the new watch to a hand-sewn blue Louisiana alligator leather strap that finishes the great look.
Australia Day is the official national day of Australia which is held annually, on 26 January. The date commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet of colonizing British ships at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia. With the new Geograph Australian Edition Watch, Louis Moinet pays homage to this important day for Australians and their country.
