For the eighth consecutive year, Jaeger-LeCoultre will be the partner of the Venice International Film Festival to be held from August 29 to September 8. Once again, the renowned watchmaker will play an important role at the famous “Mostra”, rewarding prizewinners, supporting humanitarian activities and adorning celebrities on the red carpet.
Jaeger-LeCoultre will magnify the glamorous opening ceremony of the prestigious Film Festival in the City of the Doges, by adorning celebrities that are going to show up on the red carpet, with its most luxurious pieces. Absolute highlights are two remarkable watches from the Rendez-Vous Collection, the first one set with diamonds and the other one with blue sapphires and rubies.
Thanks to the expertise of the brand’s famous artists, remarkable Rendez-Vous Art Haute Joaillerie watches have been executed in the extremely complex, snow-setting technique, which was directly applied on the case and the dial. The gem-setter places each diamond separately, leaning one to another and harmoniously combining precious stones of different sizes in order to cover the entire surface of the watch. Thus, each arrangement is completely unique, a piece of art that comes as the result of pure creativity and know-how, which lets diamonds glide and undulate endlessly like waves.
Powered by high-end automatic mechanisms, these timepieces bring together art, glamour and precision. They are exclusively presented for the Venice International Film Festival and it will not be a surprise if one of these beauties ends up on the wrist of the brand’s glamorous ambassador, a movie star, Diane Kruger. For an additional trendy touch, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Valextra have designed the Rendez-Vous clutch bag that is promoted as “a new way of wearing a watch like an indispensable, ultra-trendy accessory”.
One Rose, One Child
During the Venice Film Festival, the renowned Swiss watchmaker will also work on a noble cause, by supporting the humanitarian association called Emergency which was founded in 1994 in order to help the victims of armed conflict and of poverty in over 16 countries. The fund collected by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s action will help the Emergency’s maternity centre inAnabah,Afghanistan.
By wearing Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso timepieces with specially engraved rose on back-sides of their cases, artists are also going to benefit this great action. As a nice symbol of hope for all children, rose will be the light motif of the opening ceremony, where all guests are going to wear this flower.
Award for the Exceptional Filmmaking
The Venice Biennial has already revealed that the 2012 Jaeger-LeCoultre “Glory to the Filmmaker” prize goes to the famous American director, scriptwriter, actor and producer, Spike Lee. This special prize has been established in 2007 to reward individuals who made a significant contribution to the development of contemporary cinema: Takeshi Kitano (2007), Abbas Kiarostami (2008), Agnès Varda (2008), Sylvester Stallone (2009), Mani Ratnam (2010) and Al Pacino (2011).
Finally, the Swiss watchmaker will not miss the Closing Ceremony that will give the answer who will be laureates in the best actor, the best actress, the best director and the best film categories. Beside the iconic Golden Lion, each winner will receive a special gift – a personalized Reverso watch that features a lacquered engraving of the lion. This symbol of Venice is executed by hand, along with the inscription “69th Mostra”.
The close link that Jaeger-LeCoultre has with the Venice International Film Festival is not the only proof of the brand’s great dedication to the 7th Art. For the past two years, the luxurious watch manufacturer has also been a partner with the Shanghai Film Festival and the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.
