The expansion of IWC Schaffhausen boutiques in the world’s most prestigious locations is continuing. After openings of its Asian flagship boutique in Hong Kong 3 years ago, Swiss watchmaker now presents its first boutique at Galaxy Macau.

IWC Macau Boutique

Heavily dependent on gambling and tourism, with over 30 casinos, Macau is often known as the Asian Las Vegas, with its famous Casinos and gambling houses. Lying on the western side of the Pearl River Delta across from Hong Kong, Macau is much more than gambling.

Macau’s worldclass resorts and impressive architecture make it a premier destination well suited to a leading luxury watch brand.

A Swiss high-end watchmaker from Schaffhausen is well-known for creating masterpieces of Haute Horlogerie that combine precision engineering with exclusive design. Thus, IWC’s timepieces are ideally suited to the resort’s discerning clientele. Located on the prestigious Galaxy Macau resort the new IWC boutique surely adds a touch of luxury to this Chinese island.

One of IWC’s collections is the Portuguese family, and it is not coincidence that the Swiss luxury watchmaker opened its new, much-anticipated boutique in the former Portuguese colony o f Macau.

Macau has strong connections with Swiss manufacturer from Schaffhausen. After the legendary Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama (c. 1460 or 1469 – 24 December 1524) completed his historical trip to India in the 15th century, many of his compatriots have decided to stay in the Orient. One of the most popular destinations for them was the Chinese island of Macau.

In 1939, Swiss watchmaker made its first watches to order for two Portuguese merchants from Lisbon and Porto – hence the name “Portuguese” – and has since maintained closely connected with the country’s rich history of seafaring. Macau’s close links with Portugal’s marine heritage make it an ideal location for an IWC boutique.

The new luxury building in the Las Vegas of Asia feature a comprehensive collection of IWC watches. The IWC boutique seamlessly combines modern design cues and timeless features in a luxurious but highly functional setting.

Georges Kern, CEO of IWC, said: “We are proud to announce the opening of our IWC boutique in Macau because it represents another milestone in the brand’s worldwide expansion.”

“Macau attracts a discerning and affluent clientele, among them many watch enthusiasts and collectors, who will appreciate the welcoming and refined ambience we have created at the new Galaxy Macau boutique,” he concluded.
