Last week, luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen opened its new Beijing flagship boutique with the cream of the Chinese capital society. The gala was held in the Parkview Green Mall with more than 200 famous guests, such as Olympic gold medal winner Chen Yibing, actress Tang Wei, actor Su You Peng, Cloud Atlas star Zhu Zhu, movie director Wang Xiaoshuai, and artist Wang Luyan.
The IWC flagship store in the capital of the People’s Republic of China– which is the second Flagship Boutique in Asia– features a world premiere – a room dedicated to a star in brand’s history, the Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia.
The architecture of IWC’s Flagship Boutique in Beijing is just as exquisite as its surroundings. The Parkview Green Mall was constructed as a sustainable area in the heart of Beijing’s central business district, which Schaffhausen-based watchmaker praised for ”setting new standards” in form and function to enhance environmental technology and also to create a microclimate beyond Beijing’s extreme seasons.
The 300 square meter bi-level dark glass cube and the interior of the boutique were designed to reflect the ambiance of company’s collection.
Today, the one of the company’s talismans, the Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia boasts the wealth of numerous surprising complications and new advanced technical features and combines more than 500 components, from the patented constant-force tourbillon escapement to the wheel train, culminating in the display of solar and sidereal time, twilight, sunrise, and sunset, and the constantly changing view of the visible stars and constellations from the customer’s own horizon.
Furthermore, on the opening day over 200 IWC guests had the opportunity to see the Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia, which has been engraved with a celestial chart on the case back showing Beijing’s Forbidden City’s horizon to mark the special occasion.
Our new Flagship Boutique, now the second in Asia, takes IWC’s watchmaking heritage to a new level,” said IWC CEO Georges Kern. “We are proud to celebrate this occasion with our distinguished guests and to honor the importance of the Chinese market with an exclusive timepiece,” he added.
“The first IWC Flagship Boutique in mainland China is not only important for the region, but also adds a new landmark to the company’s history,” explained Kern.
The very first Asian flagship boutique was opened in Hong Kong 3 years ago, and recently IWC opened store in Asia’s Las Vegas–Macau. During last few years, Swiss watch manufacturer expanded into the China booming luxury market with seven new stores in mainland China.
