Hublot has further deepened its cooperation with its ambassador, Usain Bolt, by launching the first watch that is specially dedicated to the fastest man in the world. It is a pretty standard king Power Chronograph that has been a part of the collection of the watchmaker for some time, and it includes all the usual features. Things that differentiate this new limited series, dedicated to the Jamaican sprinter, from the other models in the series, are numerous tributes and references to Bolt. An example of such intentions is the use of straps that the manufacturer claims were made from the exactly the same type of leather as the running shoes that this athlete used in the Olympic Games in Beijing where he won three gold medals and achieved the same number of world records in the process.

The watch dedicated to Usain “Lightining” Bolt comes in the year when the sprinter celebrates 25 years of age and in expectation of the following Olympic Games that will be held in London where Bolt will try to defend his medals and to possibly achieve more world record times. Apart from the dubious inclusion of the same synthetic leather as Bolt’s lucky running shoes (stitched onto black rubber for the enhanced comfort of the wearer, in the watchmaker’s recognizable practice), the firm from Geneva intended to incorporate more traits that would be characteristic and associated with the famous athlete. One of the examples is the inclusion of Bolt’s silhouette, in the recognizable pose that he uses to celebrate the victories and records, which sits on the left part of the dial, in the small seconds counter. Other tributes are the touches of green color on the face, which is a nod to Bolt’s native country, Jamaica, as well as the overall choice of colors, with predominantly black and gold tones which the sprinter tends to use.

The driving force of Hublot King Power Usain Bolt Limited Edition timepiece (with the reference number 703.CI.1129.NR.USB12) is its mechanical self-winding chronograph Calibre HUB4100, constructed from 252 components. The movement with the automatic winding has a Glucydur hairspring, 27 jewels and guarantees a power reserve that lasts about 42 hours.
