Hublot has unveiled a new watch at the special event that took place in W Hotel in South Beach, Florida last Wednesday. At the posh party that was attended by the brand’s officials, its ambassador, a famous basketball player, Dwyane Wade, and other celebrities, the Swiss watchmaker unveiled the limited edition timekeeper named “305” after the Miami’s area code. The restricted edition by Hublot is forged from King Gold, decorated with an engraving that depicts the downtown of Miami on the case-back, and equipped with a manufacture automatic-winding mechanical movement. There are two limited editions of the watch: the first one which is comprised of 40 pieces, and even more exclusive variations with diamonds consisting of just 10 copies.
The new horological tribute to the biggest city in Florida was unveiled at the star-studded presentation by the company’s CEO Ricardo Guadalupe. The glamorous event was also attended by some of the top current and former Miami Heat players: Dwyane Wade, Alonzo Mourning, Udonis Haslem and Mario Chalmers. Other celebrities connected with the Magic City who were present are a football player, Jeremy Shockey (the former student of the University of Miami), a model and an actress, Gabrielle Union, a rapper, Rick Ross, an artist, Romero Britto, and a TV personality, Lisa Hochstein.
Since it is a tribute to Miami, the new Hublot watch is rich with associations to its inspiration. Its featured colors – ocean blue and white are meant to evoke the sea and sand of South Florida. The watch has a large round casing with the diameter of 48 mm made from King Gold (the material made from 18K gold and 5 percent of platinum) which is responsible for its characteristic reddish color.
Hublot King Power Limited Edition “305” timekeeper is equipped with the in-house made skeleton HUB4214 caliber featured in quite a few Hublot models, including for example King Power Costa Smeralda watch which we have previously covered. It is a self-winding mechanical caliber movement with the Tri-Compax chrono subdials layout (with counters at three, six, and nine o’clock positions). The caliber is comprised of 257 parts and integrates 27 rubies. It operates on the frequency of 28800 vph and stores a power reserve that lasts for approximately 42 hours. Apart from the chrono feature, it also sports a date display set at the 4:30 position.
As for the attachment of the watch dedicated to the Magic City, Hublot opted for a blue Hornback alligator leather strap, stitched on white rubber. Besides, Hublot King Power “305” timepiece with a solid case-back in King Gold (decorated with engravings with the area code and the view of the city) is water proof to 100 meters.
While the basic limited edition includes 50 products, there is an even more restricted and exclusive version of the model with 374 white diamonds on its case and bezel. The total weight of the gemstones used on the luxury version equals to about 3.34 carats. It is made in a very restricted edition that includes just ten timekeepers.
