By getting together cutting-edge technologies and a high-end Swiss watchmaking, the SLYDE watch by HD3 reaches the whole new level in the watchmaking industry. This ‘crazy’ creation features a unique, personalized touch screen display that offers a variety of contemporary faces which respond to an event, a command or a specific moment. While advanced performances on its interface remind on a smart watch, the high-end design and craftsmanship of the SLYDE timepiece imply that it is a stunning digital interpretation of traditional Swiss watchmaking.

HD3′s engineers spent about three years, developing the SLYDE. They had already gathered in a great experience in making highly advanced, extravagant mechanical watches, but this was the first time to deal with a PC user interface that provides the customization of the watch. The result is pretty impressive.

By processing hundreds of images per second, a micro-controller allows you to go through different screens with ease. Each screen represents a different function, such as a world timer, a chronograph, a countdown timer, a full calendar, a moon phase indicator, and a series of special custom calendar functions that includes linking pictures with calendar data. Maybe same of these are not the most needed performances that you would expect from a watch, but they are certainly a lot of fun. For example, you can upload images to the Slyde and link it with a corresponding date. The timer will then countdown time until the date comes. It can also track elapsed time since a calendar date.

Touch Screen that Provides a Great Fun

The display of HD3 Slyde timepiece is activated by a simple tap on its surface. Then, by swiping it up, down, or to the sides, you can access a number of screens. It is easy and funny thing to do. HD3 will create new ‘virtual movements’ that will soon be available for downloading. They will provide variously designed watch skins. The only request is that these skins have a look of mechanical timepieces. The display is covered with sapphire crystal, which means that it is scratch resistant.

HD3 Slyde timepiece is available in several variations. It is made either of stainless steel or titanium. There are also stainless steel and titanium variations with PVD black segments. Finally, there are luxurious versions – one with 18 karat rose gold trim and another one, a steel watch with diamonds on its lugs.

The case of the watch is extremely robust. It is about 48mm wide and almost 58mm long. The case comes with no buttons. For all operations, there is a touch screen. The case features five little lights on its right side, which indicate the activated screen or charging of the 3.8V lithium polymer battery. When it is fully charged, the battery should run up to two weeks. The Slyde comes with a charging base and can connect to your computer via USB cable charger.

You can choose between a more elegant and a casual, sporty style by using one of two available straps. The first one is an alligator-patterned black leather strap and the other one is a black rubber strap. Although someone may consider this watch as a very luxury gadget (the price goes from $6,895 for a basic steel version to $19,595 for the steel version with diamonds), it is much more than this. By creating this contemporary masterpiece, HD3 managed to maintain all high-end watchmaking standards both in terms of high-end materials and finishing.
