As the official timekeeper of the off-road Baja 1000 race, Graham launched a special edition of a Chronofighter Oversize Superlight Baja 1000 watch. Composed of ultra-light material, this robust chronograph is designed to provide great comfort while making a striking appearance at a men’s wrist. The brand’s new concept that requires the use of the advanced technology is applied to 200 pieces, and it will surly be highly popular among racing watch lovers.

Here are a few words about the occasion. If you have never heard about the race, it takes place every year in the typical Mexican town Ensenada, also known as La Cenicienta del Pacífico (the Cinderella of the Pacific). Most of the year, it is a quiet little place where locals and tourists can enjoy the sea, the sun and nature. However, the atmosphere in the city changes completely during four days of the legendary Tecate Score Baja 1000 race which each year attracts over 350 competitors from more than 40 states and a dozen countries, as well as around 200,000 spectators. The track goes through a wild nature and due to the extreme conditions, almost half of the participants do not finish the race.
If I need to imagine a watch that would suit these conditions, it would look something like the new Graham’s timepiece. Immediately recognizable by the brand’s signature start and stop lever placed on the left side, Chronofighter Oversize Superlight Baja 1000 watch is a tough, masculine model with a great resistance to scratches. It features a lightweight black carbon nanotube composite case, weighting less than 100g. The lever is made of plain carbon and requires a special machining process. Finally, there is a black ceramic bezel, for the perfect combo of strength and lightness. Its polished surface makes a nice contrast with a brushed case and emphasizes a beige dial.
Matching the color of a rubber strap and adorned with “Clous de Paris” decoration, the dial features the tachymeter scale, running over the outer rim, Arabic numerals in different sizes, and the prominent black chrono sub-dial, placed at the 6 o’clock position. The small seconds sub-dial is at the 3 o’clock position, while the small round date aperture takes the 9 o’clock position. Chronograph hands are marked in red, which makes them highly legible.
