At the twelfth Grand Prix d’horlogerie de Genève, Tag Heuer took the supreme award, “Aiguille d’or”, for its revolutionary Mikrogirder Chronograph. The best ladies’ watch in 2012 is a remarkable Chanel Premiere Flying Tourbillon, while the winner in the Men’s Watch of the Year Category went to MB&F Legacy Machine N°1. This masterpiece also won the Public Prize. Greubel Forsey made the most complicated watch in 2012.
The Foundation of the Grand Prix d’horlogerie de Genève hosted the watchmaking elite to witness the prize giving ceremony in the Grand Théâtre de Genève. As the major event for the entire industry, 12th Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix highlighted the best annual creations in terms of technology, design and inventiveness.
The jury of 2012 GPHG decided unanimously to award Tag Heuer’s Mikrogirder Chronograph with the most prestigious “Aiguille d’or” prize. This masterpiece of haute horology that opened a new chapter in the watchmaking history, presenting a chronograph to count time with the 1/ 2000th of a second accuracy, absolutely deserved the title of the best creation in 2012.
MB&F also had a very good night, wining two awards for its Legacy Machine N°1 timepiece. The superb quality of this piece of art was recognized both by the jury (the Best Men’s Watch) and watchmaking lovers who marked it as the best annual creation.
Greubel Forsey’s Invention Piece 2 Quadruple Tourbillon watch was awarded in the Compicated Watches category, while the first hydro-mechanical watch, HYT H1 Titane Black DLC won the Innovation Prize. Chanel’s Premiere Flying Tourbillon became the ladies’ watch of the year, while a breathtaking Chopard’s Imperiale Tourbillon Full Set timepiece won the Jewellery and Artistic Crafts Watch Prize.
The Sport Watch of the Year is Habring2 Doppel 2.0 Chronograph and finally, Zenith’s Pilot Big Date Special watch received the award in the “Petite Aiguille” Category. Special Jury Prize went to Société Suisse de Chronométrie (SSC), while the Head of Fine Watchmaking at Cartier, Carole Forestier Kasapi, won the prestigious title of the Best Watchmaker.
