The luxury Swiss manufacturer, Girard-Perregaux, in collaboration with Susan Rockefeller designed a special edition watches and named them ‘Mission of Mermaids’ (MOM) upon Susan’s most recent documentary. The following Wednesday (September 25), the Swiss watchmaker and the Rockefellers will join forces with the founder and the lead guitar player of Chic, Nile Rodgers, for the “Changing Watch” event supporting We Are Family Foundation which is involved in environmental programs, including the program for the protection of the oceans.
For this occasion, Girard-Perregaux introduces two special editions: a sporty Sea Hawk and an elegant Lady Chrono model.
Sea Hawk MoM – Created in the Diver`s Style
The new special edition Sea Hawk MoM is housed in a 44mm stainless steel case with a unidirectional diver bezel. It features a green rehaut and several of the hands are executed in green. A mermaid is printed in a small seconds counter which is located between 10 and 11 o’clock positions. Furthermore, the logo is also printed in green on the case back of the watch. I must say that these green elements give a special charm to the new GP diving timepiece.
The watch features a black dial with large hour markers and hands with a white luminescent substance. A date window is located between 1 and 2 o’clock positions, while the semi-circular power reserve display is situated at the 6 o’clock position.
The beating heart of the Sea Hawk MoM watch is in-house manufactured caliber GP03300-0074 mechanical movement. The 27 jewels mechanism oscillates at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and provides no less than 46 hours of power reserve.
This special edition model is a reminder of the brand’s experience in the field of sport watches. Just to remind you that the first volume production of wristwatches in Girard-Perregaux’s manufacture began in 1880, and sixty years later, GP presented the first generation of Hawk.
The special edition timepiece is able to dive to depths of amazing 1,000 meters (about 3,280 feet). Its case is shielded with anti-reflective sapphire crystals, while the screw-down case back, besides the green mermaid image, is decorated with the inscription “Protect what is precious”. The screw down crown at the 4 o’clock position comes with the brand’s logo on its tip.
Sea Hawk MoM with the referent number 49960-19-1305SFK6A is attached to a comfortable, black rubber strap and it can be purchased for €10,800 (about $14,600). For instance, the regular Sea Hawk costs € 9, 900, but with the purchase of this special watch, you will show that you want to participate in ocean protection.
The utmost femininity comes with a new Girard-Perregaux Small Chronograph MoM
The new Girard-Perregaux Small Chronograph is an exceptionally feminine model of a great watchmaking classic. This exquisite timepiece is housed in a stainless steel case with the diameter of only 32mm. The case is encrusted with 48 brilliant-cut diamonds (weighing 0.96 carats). Its case is protected with anti-reflective sapphire crystals and has a see-through sapphire glass case back secured by five screws. The water resistance is assured down to 30 meters (100 feet).
The watch is equipped with the column wheel chronograph movement GP030C0-S0NSS-006A which is visible through the transparent dial. The self-winding movement provides minimum 36 hours of power reserve and provides functions of hours, minutes, column-wheel chronograph and small second. It has the beating rate of 28,800 beats per hour and is built on 38 jewels.
This special edition ladies’ timepiece is available either with a light gray calfskin leather or a mat orange strap, both ending with steel folding buckles (their referent numbers are 80440D11A1316SIK2A and 80440D11A1316SAHD31).
Girard-Perregaux Small Chronograph MoM also boasts an engraving “Protect what is precious” which is Susan Rockefeller’s motto. This year, Susan and David Rockefeller have established the Protect What is Precious Initiative to make the world a more loving, peaceful and healthy place by protecting family, art and nature.
The CEO of Sowind group (Girard-Perregaux and Jeanrichard), Michele Sofisti, said “People like Susan and David work as guardian angels, always reminding us of the necessity of protecting what we hold precious”.
Susan Rockefeller added “Girard-Perregaux’s timepieces remind us of how precious time is, and, their support is a great reassurance to us”. She concluded “We have very limited time to save our oceans. My hope is that Mission of Mermaids will inspire people to reflect on the importance of preserving our environment.”
