After the successful participation in the Only Watch auction with a unique version of the Chrono Hawk, Girard-Perregaux continues to expand its portfolio of watches. The Swiss manufacturer pays homage to the movie making capital of the world with a special edition of the Hawk Collection, named the Chrono Hawk Hollywoodland Watch.

This novelty once again highlights the brand’s passion for the art of cinema, and its engagement to celebrate movies. Last year, the watchmaking company reported that it was going to be a founding supporter and sponsor of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures which is currently in construction and will stand as a significant cinema museum on the West Coast.
The new Chrono Hawk Hollywoodland perfectly combines the black ceramic case with the rose gold bezel. Not only that this combination looks nice, but it is also sporty and modern at the same time.

The all-black ceramic case measures 44mm in diameter and incorporates a gorgeous 18-karats rose gold which perfectly rounds the dial surface. Girard-Perregaux offers two models of the Chrono Hawk Hollywoodland: the one with a darker gray dial (ref. 49970-34-232-BB6A) and the other one with a lighter dial (ref. 49970-34-132-BB6A).
The watch case is shielded with anti-reflective sapphire crystals. The case back of the watch also features a sapphire crystal that allows a view on the in-house manufactured movement. The watch is powered with the caliber GP 3300 self-winding movement with a chronograph module on top. This combination – base movement GP 3300 and chrono module – is named GP03300-0073, and it beats at the rapid frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). The reliable mechanism provides no less than 46 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement is protected against the ingress of water of up to 100 meters (about 330 feet).

The watch’s dial leaves impression of the immense depth. Partially, that has been achieved thanks to the actual depth between the crystal and the dial and partially due to the relief of the dial that recalls the shape of Girard-Perregaux’s legendary tourbillon bridge, raised counter tracks and applied hour markers.
The hour and minute hands and hour markers are filled with luminous material that enhances legibility in low light conditions. The watch is attached to a strap with a rubber base that is covered with black alligator leather. The wristlet is secured to the wrist with a folding clasp. The same type of strap has been used for the new Traveller Collection which was presented earlier this year at the Baselworld 2013. The retail price of the Girard-Perregaux Chrono Hawk Hollywoodland Watch is $21,400.
