This year, Girard-Perregaux celebrates its 225th anniversary. To mark this jubilee, the well-known manufacturer has presented several new Cat’s Eye timepieces for women. Among them there is a stunning model named Cat’s Eye Aventurine Dial that features an amazing complication displayed in a feminine way.
Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Aventurine Dial watch boasts a sun and a moon which appear on the 22-karats gold disk at the 6 o’clock position. The disc completes a rotation in 24 hours against a backdrop of sparkly aventurine which represents the night sky and stars. Although it has a stylized moon, from a technical perspective, it is not a moon phase display, but a day/night indicator. The disc boasts various types of finishing, such as sandblasting, polishing, etc.
The new Cat’s Eye Aventurine Dial (ref. 80488D52A451-CK4A) is housed in an 18-karat pink gold case encrusted with 62 diamonds weighing just under a carat. The feminine oval case measures 35.44mm x 30.44mm and goes perfectly with an average size woman’s wrist. Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a gorgeous aventurine dial set with 18 diamonds placed in marker positions.
The technique for making aventurine glass (“avventura” – “adventure” in Italian) dates back from the 17th century, in Murano, when an artisan glass-maker accidentally let some tiny shards of metal slip into the vitreous paste.
From the rear, there is a sapphire crystal case back which is secured by 4 screws.
The beating heart of the Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Aventurine Dial timepiece is powered with the precise and reliable caliber GP03300-0090 automatic movement which is capable to store enough power to keep the watch ticking for at least 46 hours.
This fabulous novelty from the house of Girard-Perregaux comes with a comfortable, navy blue alligator strap which is secured to the ladies’ wrist with a pink gold folding buckle.
