The newest member of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 collection is a gorgeous model that, for the first time, comprises both large date and moon phases functions.
Girard-Perregaux 1966 Large Date and Moon Phases is an elegant and refined watch with a beautiful moon phases indicator and the patented large date mechanism which shows the date with no border between the digits for exceptional readability.
This became possible thanks to a mechanism which consists of two superimposed disks built into the caliber GP03300 automatic manufacture movement. As it is reported from the manufacturer, “the upper disk is virtually invisible thanks to its transparency and its thickness of 0.10 mm, equivalent to a sheet of paper.” Furthermore, the date advances in less than 100th of a second, thus confirming the quality of the watch in terms of advanced watchmaking expertise.
The impeccable movement is built on 32 jewels and it has oscillating rate of 28,800 alternations per hour (4 Hz). It is capable to store enough energy to keep the watch ticking for approximately 46 hours. The movement consists of 290 individual components. The oscillating weight is encrusted with Côtes de Genève.
Girard-Perregaux 1966 Large Date and Moon Phases is housed in an elegant case which measures 41mm in diameter and 11.22mm in thickness. The case features a polished bezel, gently curved lugs, as well as a slightly domed sapphire crystal which frames the dial. The watch is constructed to resist water pressure up to 30 meters (about 100 feet).
A large date window is located on the upper part of the dial below the 12 o’clock position, while on the opposite side, at the 6 o’clock position, there is a moon phases indicator together with a small seconds counter.
The reverse side of the watch reveals the inner beauty of the watch with a nicely decorated 21-karat gold rotor and bridges adorned with Geneva stripes and bevelled angles.
Girard-Perregaux 1966 Large Date and Moon Phases is available in two versions. The first one is housed in 18-karat pink gold case (ref. 49546-52-131-BB60) and it is priced $24,360, while the second variant features 18-karat white gold case (ref. 49546-53-131-BB60) and it can be purchased for $26,060.
Both models are fitted with black alligator leather straps which are secured with gold pin buckles.
