The Swiss watchmaking brand Cvstos has unveiled four new models. Each of the novel watches is equipped with the in-house automatic CVS 350 mechanical movement with a skeletonized date disc and tonneau-shaped Challenge styled cases. The most intriguing of the new models is Challenge Jet-Liner Carbone model with the housing made of high-tech modern materials based on the strength of carbon. As far as the exclusivity and originality are concerned, the model that stands out is the limited edition watch with the coat of arms from various countries. The remaining two novitiates – one with mythological (Daedalus Limited Edition) and the other with seafaring inspiration (Sea-Finder) are fairly similar to the previous ones, especially in the technical sense since they share the same movement and therefore the supported features.

Cvstos Challenge Sea-Liner Blued Steel Watch
First of all, there is a need to clarify the collections of origin of the fresh pieces by Cvstos which all more or less resemble to Richard Mille timekeepers. Though each of the four new watches have the “Challenge” in their names, they are not all from the same collection. However, all of them are made with a tonneau shaped casing, or as the brand calls it in a “Challenge” style of housing. The only model that is actually from the Challenge collection is the Sea-Finder, while the other three are part of the Jet-Liner series. As it has been mentioned, the movement used in new watches is CVS 350 self-winding caliber with 25 jewels. It runs at the frequency of 28800 vph and provides a power reserve of 42 hours.
Challenge Jet-Liner Carbone
At the start, let us share a bit more details about Challenge Jet-Liner Carbone model, the very first tonnau-shaped Cvstos having the case with carbon. The housing is inlaid with a carbon fiber material, which is the solution widely used in the automotive industry. Though extremely modern, this technique in a way draws its origin way back in the past, since the whole process looks much like the marquetry techniques for treatment of the hand-made furniture. After the inlay has been set, the next stages in the production are laser cutting, inlaying each of cut components, manually performed coating with no less than seven layers of lacquer (setting of each layer is followed by the thermal treatment in ovens), the robotic correction of the inlayed surface and finally, finishing with a hand-performed finish. This sort of procedure guarantees the optimal fusion of case material with a finish and to say the least impressive appearance. By the way, carbon fiber is combined with the case made of steel, titanium or red gold.

Cvstos Challenge Jet-Liner Carbone is quite a large watch with the length of 53.7mm, the width of 41mm and the thickness of 13.35mm. Naturally, the face is guarded by double glare-proof sapphire crystal which is likewise used on the exhibition case back that is screwed with polished grade 5 titanium screws. The crown is made in the same material or in 5N red gold (both versions with nitril inserts). As far as the dial is concerned, it is black, skeletonized and paired with Arabic numerals and luminous indexes and hands (which are likewise pierced and chromed. The caliber used universally in each of the four new models has a black plasma, black rhodium or rhodiated treatment. For the attachment, the manufacturer which namemeans “guardian” in Latin decided for a carbon strap which naturally fastens with a folding clasp made also from carbon.
Challenge World Coat of Arms
Another Jet-Liner in the Challenge tonneau casing bears the name World Coat of Arms. As the name suggests, the main feature of the timekeeper is the presence of a coat of arms. So far, the manufacturer presented two Russian and a single Moroccan version of the timekeeper. One is with the emblem of Russia, while the other one depicts the panorama of Kremlin which obviously is not a coat of arms, but let us not be too harsh on the manufacturer. There is also a mention of the so far unseen version with the German thematic.

The coat of arms featured on the watches is set on a totally skeletonized dial with the applied emblem in rhodium or gold plated. Speaking about the housing, the watch is available in three different options: steel, black steel or 5N titanium. This model is moreover made in two different sizes: the bigger version has the same dimensions like Carbone timekeeper (59mm X 45mm X 15,45mm), whereas the smaller variation is still quite substantial (53.7mm X 41mm X 13.35mm). World Coat of Arms is coupled with a black rubber band or a black alligator leather strap.
Challenge Jet-Liner GT Daedalus Edition
The next newcomer fitted into a barrel styled Challenge casing has a mythological figure as its inspiration. It is GT Daedalus watch named after the character mentioned in several ancient Greek myths. The father of Icarus, Daedalus, is mentioned in the famous stories about the construction of the labyrinth and Minotaur. In a few of the tales, the famed architect Daedalus uses honeycomb design as the solution for some of the problems he encounters. For this reason, Cvstos made the watch that features a honeycomb laser-cut structure made from solid titanium and likewise includes a minute railway which is extremely thin; it is just 0.2mm thick.

Once again, the available attachments are a black rubber band or a black alligator leather strap.
Challenge Sea-Liner
The final model Sea-Liner has a maritime theme as its basis, which is not that notable since the watch has the same movement with the skeletonized date disc, as well as the identical supported functions. This is why the seafaring theme is actually not that visible, while the only naval-looking components are blue segments on a teak wood base. Available material for the 53.7mm X 41mm X 13.5mm tonneau casing are steel, blued steel or 5N red gold. Additionally, there is a white gold limited edition made in 25 copies. On the other hand, the attachment can once again be leather or rubber (more accurately, the brand’s trademark Nitril-NBR blend).
