In January 2012, the new Edox Dakar Limited Edition quartz watch will hit the market with only 500 timepieces that will be delivered in “exclusive” presentation boxes. With this limited edition watch, the Swiss Jura-based watchmaker Edox celebrates its status of the official timekeeper of the Dakar Rally Raid for the next three years.

Edox Dakar Limited Edition WatchThe Dakar Limited Edition comes in a sporty, well-proportioned case crafted from the rock-solid, 316L stainless steel.  The watch built to withstand the extremes of temperature, impact, sand and harsh weather, measures 42 mm in diameter and it is only 11.8 mm thick. It has a narrow fixed bezel and a screw down crown, both made from steel. A fitting tribute to the famous off-road race boasts an easily readable and unique dial surface. Its carbon fiber dial faithfully illustrates the route of the South American tour, including the national flags of Argentina, Chile and Peru. The black dial surface with contracting bright luminous white hands and indices offers perfect legibility under all kinds of lighting conditions. The case is protected with an anti-reflective scratch resistant sapphire crystal and provides water resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet).

This robust Edox is powered by the in-house made 64 quartz movement which is based on the top of the line Ronda 6004.B quartz movement. The movement provides the usual functions of hour, minute and subsidiary second, as well as a date function. A black-on-white date indicator is situated at the 12 o’clock position, whereas a 60 seconds counter is placed on the opposite side, at the 6 o’clock position. A nice touch comes also with the Dakar Rally Logo in white, located between 1 and 3 o’clock positions.

Edox Dakar Limited Edition WatchThis fabulous timepiece is attached to a solid stainless steel bracelet with a deployant clasp. The case back of the new Edox Dakar Limited Edition watch is decorated with the engraved motorcycle helmet, and each of 500 pieces is individually numbered on a plate affixed to the side of the watch. Considering the fact that only a small number of people worldwide will have the opportunity to buy this watch, I recommend you to act fast and contact your authorized Edox dealer promptly. As I have already noted, the new Dakar timepiece will arrive to selected stores and boutiques at the beginning of the New Year. The retail price of this sporty timekeeper will be $2,050.
