The latest addition to the Edox’s Chronorally collection is the sporty and bold limited edition timepiece that honors the brand’s partnership with the famous Sauber F1 Team. The Swiss watchmaker becomes the Sauber F1 Team Premium Partner this February ahead of the 2016 FIA Formula One Championship.
The new Chronorally Sauber F1 Team Watch is housed in a racing-themed, lightweight titanium case inspired by the excitements of F1 race. Its dynamic case measures 48mm in diameter and it is designed by using the cutting-edge materials. Just like the other members of the Chronorally collection, this newcomer is constructed to withstand the harshest conditions.
The highly resistant case rounds a carbon fiber dial with blue detailing on the upper half, thus evoking the Sauber F1 Team’s emblematic colors. Its dynamic dial resembles the F1 driver’s cockpit display.
The beating heart of the stunning novelty is a precise and reliable Ronda Caliber 8040.B quartz chronograph movement that offers the usual functions of hours, minutes, seconds, as well as a large date complication, and a complete chronograph function. A big date window is situated at the 6 o’clock position together with continuous sweep seconds, whilst conversely at the 12 o’clock position there is a retrograde day of the week display. The black inner flange features a tachymeter scale which can be used to calculate speed based on travel time or for measuring the distance based on speed.
The new Edox Chronorally Sauber F1 Team is equipped with the “split time” function, meaning that the watch has two chronograph seconds hands one atop the other that move together, with an ability to be stopped independently. The wearer can use this function for timing two events that start at the same time, but have different finishing times.
As you can see on the image below, the official timepiece of the Sauber F1 Team features an oversized red pusher for a perfect grip on the watch commands. This push-piece is tipped with the Sauber “S” logo.
The new watch is shielded with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. It is constructed to resist water pressure up to 100 meters (330 feet). The Chronorally Sauber F1 Team timepiece is issued in the limited series of 555 pieces. Each exemplar is individually numbered on the case back, and features Sauber F1 Team side plate.
The latest Edox watch is attached to a black rubber strap with a tyre-print pattern, ending with a classic buckle. The retail price is 1,950 Swiss francs (approximately $1,940).
