After having a renewed sponsorship of the Ambrì Piotta Hockey Club for the 2014/2015 season, Eberhard & Co. decided to commemorate this sponsorship with a special limited series of its Traversetolo “time-only” model. These limited edition timepieces will be issued in the limited quantity of 77 exemplars – which is equal as the Ambrí Piotta Hockey Club years (the club is founded in 1937).
Traversetolo Ambri Piotta (ref. 21016) is housed in a stainless steel case which measures 43mm in diameter and 10.7mm in thickness. The case incorporates a narrow polished bezel and a steel crown personalized with the brand’s logo “E”. The case back is minted with the marks in relief and fixed by 8 screws.
Inside the steel case, there is a Unitas/ETA 6498 mechanical hand-wound movement inspired by a mechanism of the ‘50s and perfected over time. The Swiss Made mechanism is built on 17 jewels, has the frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour, 45-hour power reserve and functions of hours, minutes and small seconds. The movement is protected against the ingress of water up to 50 meters (approximately 165 feet). Although the mechanism does not look particularly refined considering the fact that it is decorated only with some perlage, it brings together a nice combination of deliberate simplicity and great attention to details.
Underneath the curved front sapphire glass lies a white dial with contrasting black Arabic numerals, 12 luminescent dots as hour markers and a small seconds sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position. The leaf-shaped hour and minute hands are also filled with luminous substance. The HCAP logo in the traditional blue color is situated at the 3 o’clock position.
For the band, Eberhard & Co. have chosen a brown honey-colored leather strap with blue stitching, fitted with a stainless steel buckle with E&C logo. The brown color of the strap makes this limited edition timepiece even sportier.
Sports fans and supporters of the Ambrí Piotta Hockey Club will get the chance to buy one of only 77 Traversetolo Ambri Piotta timepieces via the dedicated section presented on the club official website. The retail price is €2,000 (about $2,650).
