The watch brand Dietrich owned by designer Emmanuel Dietrich introduce their new watch called Dietrich 1969 OTC-A01 Watch. The OTC stands for Organic Time Companion, while A01 stands for A model, version 01 because the watchmaker plans to launch more versions of this timepiece.
This newcomer is completely designed and engineered in Switzerland, but it cannot claim to be Swiss-Made because it is tooled with a Japanese movement. Although it is not a COSC certified chronometer, it perfectly combines excellent performance with affordable luxury.
The watch is framed in micro-beads blasted and polished stainless steel. The hexagonal case measures 48mm x 46mm and it is 13.7mm thick. The front side of the case features a sapphire glass with an anti-glare coating on the underneath side, while on the other side there is a screwed and engraved case back. On the right side of the case there is a crown sealed with double O-ring. The water resistance of the Dietrich 1969 OTC-A01 is assured down to 50 meters (about 165 feet).
The front sapphire glass provides an open view to the modified automatic mechanical movement, Myota 82-S-7. The four layered dial (first and third layers sun brushed middle gray; second and fourth layers vertical brushed middle gray) is full of different design elements and there is no point to explain them. You might like it, or not. I particularly think they are very attractive. There is also luminescent Superluminova coating which guarantees excellent legibility no matter how poor the visibility is. This material can be found throughout the watch, from the indices to the hands.
The new Dietrich 1969 is teamed with the Nato type 2 layered Nylon strap or with the leather band in carbon finish (as seen in images). Besides the Dietrich 1969 OTC-A01 that features vivid green luminous subsctance applied on hands, indices and the 24 hours indicator, Emmanuel Dietrich also offers OTC-A02 that boasts bright red hands and indexes and OTC-A03 with bright yellow details.
The new Dietrich 1969 Organic Time Companion is priced CHF 1,252 without taxes (approximately $1,410). The total weight of the watch with the leather strap is around 128 Grams.
