A Swiss luxury manufacturer, Cvstos, has presented its new “Proud to be Russian” watch line, commissioned by a famous actor Gérard Depardieu who recently was granted Russian citizenship.

The Swiss watchmaker has recently published a photo of the French actor wearing a black steel wrist watch encrusted with a double-headed eagle in red gold which is Russia’s national emblem. Depardieu is also dressed in a black jacket featuring the same national emblem.

The new Cvstos “Proud to be Russian” timepiece will be presented in three variants. The watch will be powered with the automatic movement, eguipped with either chronograph or a tourbillon. The retail price and other information about this timepiece have not been revealed yet.

It’s been a year since Depardieu applied for Russian citizenship and received a Russian passport after he refused his French citizenship as a protest against the tax policy of French government.

“I have recently become a Russian citizen and I am proud of this because I see that in Russia people live very well. I’ve seen people in the full flower democracy,” said Depardieu last March in Chechnya where he filmed his latest movie. Last year, the well-known actor also personally met with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

Last year, Depardieu also starred in a Russian reproduction of “Rasputin” where he played the title role of one of the most notorious characters in Russian history who lived in the early 20th century.
