The latest member of the Corum family of watches is new Admiral’s Cup AC-One 45 Double Tourbillon watch that features a new complex hand-wound caliber CO 1008. As its name suggests, this exclusive movement boasts a double tourbillon, combined with a retrograde date and an ingenious time-adjustment device.
This masterfully orchestrated movement has a beating rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and it is capable to store enough power to keep the watch ticking for at least 72 hours. Furthermore, this remarkable reliable mechanism brings more advanced features. A future owner of new Corum Admiral’s Cup AC-One 45 Double Tourbillon watch can bring the minutes hand promptly to the 12th index so as to set the exact time simply by pressing the crown push-piece. This can be done up to five minutes before or after a full hour.
The mechanism’s contemporary execution boasts a horizontal satin-brushed finish and anthracite gray engravings. Assembled on the main-plate crafted from cupro-beryllium (a particularly wear-resistant copperbased alloy), it testifies about a determination to endow extraordinary horological complications with amazing long-term reliability.
The new Corum is housed in the iconic twelve-sided case of the Admiral’s Cup which was firstly introduced in 1960 and redesigned in 2013. Although it undergone some changes, the dodecahedral case remains faithful to the traditions of the inherent design. The modern architecture of the attractive case combines polished and satin-brushed finishes. The multi-layer construction of the case also features black PVD. The watch’s case measures 45mm in diameter and it is available either in 18-karat pink gold or in titanium. The front side of the case is shielded with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while the transparent case back of the watch features a glare proof sapphire crystal. The water resistance of the case is assured down to 300 meters (about 1,000 feet).
The most attractive part of the new Admiral’s Cup AC-One 45 Double Tourbillon is its gorgeous charcoal gray dial which comes with applied rhodium-coated hour markers, the applied brand’s logo (which depending on the model can be coated with pink gold), inscribed “Admiral’s Cup” below logo, minute-circle indexes, as well as “Grenadier fendu” finishing. This composition creates an elegant depth effect underlined by the inner bezel ring stamped with the emblematic nautical pennants of the Admiral’s Cup collection. Two exceptional tourbillons are situated on the lower part of the dial. Hour indexes and dauphine-styled hour and minute hands are filled with luminescent material for the best visibility under low light conditions. There is also a red arrow hand which points to the retrograde date segment that is located on the upper part of the dial.
This beautiful newcomer comes with an elegant, black crocodile leather strap, fitted with a titanium triple folding clasp with the Corum’s logo.
