The Swiss watchmaker joined elegance and luxury with the sporty masculine design of its C1 Chronograph. Contemporary elements of this bold timepiece, including a robust diameter and slim body, look truly impressive, while striking details on the dial and the case successfully preserve Concord’s recognizable design code. New Concord C1 Chronograph Black and Gold watch is definitely one of the most attractive men’s chronographs launched in 2013.

At the first glance, this watch reminded me on Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs. Although its upper, black PVD titanium bezel has a round shape, an 18 karat 5n rose gold sub-bezel is octagonal, just like the one of a ROO model. The same octagonal shape is used for rose gold rings which surround chrono sub-dials. Signature C1 bezels are connected with 8 rose gold joints and together fixed to a robust, 47 mm case, crafted in black PVD-treated Grade 5 titanium. The 18 karat 5N rose gold crown and pushers are decorated with black ceramic. A sapphire crystal case-back is fixed by 8 screws and engraved with the brand’s key words: “Audace – Savoir-Faire – Avant-Garde”.

It provides clear view on a Calibre A07.211 self-winding mechanism, with a rotor decorated by snailed bevel, vertical Côtes de Genève and G1 engraving in the center. It oscillates at the frequency of 28’800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and provides 48 hours of power-reserve.

A black dial, with the pattern that also reminds on the iconic Royal Oak pattern, features gold-plated hour-markers and hands which are all covered with SuperLuminova coating.  The 30-minute chrono counter is at the 12 o’clock position, while the 12-hour counter takes the 6 o’clock position. The small seconds sub-dial is located at the 9 o’clock and finally, there is a date window at the 3 o’clock position. The tachymeter scale for counting speed runs over the outer rim. A 2 mm thick sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides protects this great looking dial.

Concord’s C1 Collection watches are well known by vulcanized rubber straps. This time, the rubber base is covered by black alligator leather which provides a more elegant look. It features a black PVD-treated titanium deployment buckle. The new C1 Chronograph Black and Gold watch has a great water-resistance of up to 200 meters (660 feet).
