The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) has announced 172 watches which have been selected in the total of 12 categories for the annual awards. Claude Meylan Légende 88 is among 14 entrants competing in the “Calendar” category.
The latest addition to the Claude Meylan Légende line is the Légende 88 Watch which comes in an elegant, 18-karat rose gold case measuring 38 mm in diameter and 14mm in thickness. The case features simple and timeless curves and it is closed by a sapphire crystal on its back. The water resistance is assured down to 30 meters (about 100 feet).
Claude Meylan Légende 88 is distinguished by its readability. At the first glance, the future owner of the watch can easily read the day and month in the two centered apertures at the 12 o’clock position set on a natural white mother of pearl dial. Conversely, at the 6 o’clock position there is an enlarged open sky which indicates the moon phase, whilst the crescent hand will show the date. Furthermore, the chronograph function remains visible via sub-dials of their own.
The beating heart of the exquisite Légende 88 timepiece is the original vintage Valjoux manual-winding mechanical movement that oscillates at the frequency of 18,000 times per hour (2.5 Hz).
The impeccable mechanism powers the hours, minutes, seconds, day, date, month, moon phase and chronograph functions and features hand-made engraving and cutting. The movement is capable to provide no less than 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
Claude Meylan Légende 88 (the referent number is 8670) perfectly combines the subtle elegance with the world of Haute Horlogerie.
The new member of the Claude Meylan’s watch family and the representative at this year’s GPHG is attached to a hand stitched alligator leather strap, with square scales and a gold pin buckle.
In a calendar watches category at GPHG 2016 there are several interesting models. Some of them we have reviewed earlier, such as Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar and Chopard L.U.C Perpetual Calendar Chrono.
