Chopard celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Manufacture in Fleurier by launching the very first L.U.C timepiece tooled with a GMT function incorporated into the movement. The anniversary L.U.C watch is equipped with the new caliber which is created in-house from start to finish in Chopard’s Fleurier workshops.
Its dual-time function shows a second time zone and tells the time in any place and every circumstance, which makes it perfectly suited for the globe-trotting type of people.
Chopard L.U.C GMT One is powered with the caliber L.U.C 01.10-L self-winding movement which is capable to store enough energy to keep the watch working for about 60 hours when fully wound.
The finely crafted movement consists of 291 individual components and its finishes. For instance, it includes bridges adorned with Côtes de Genève, while all movement parts are chamfered. The meticulous finishing is visible from the rear through a transparent sapphire crystal case back.
The COSC-certified chronometer movement is built on 31 jewels and oscillates at the rapid frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The watch is constructed to provide water resistance up to 50 meters (approximately 165 feet).
The L.U.C GMT One is offered in two variants. The first one features a stainless steel case with a sunburst black dial rimmed by a snailed chapter ring and a slate gray 24-hour scale divided in white for daytime hours and in orange for the night-time. The second version is housed in an 18-karat rose gold case with alternating polished and satin-brushed finishes with a half-white and half-brown ring illustrating the day and night hours.
Both models are housed in mid-sized cases measuring 42mm in diameter and 11.71mm in thickness. The case incorporates two crowns. The first one is situated at the 2 o’clock position and it serves to adjust the date and the local time, while the latter one at the 4 o’clock position controls the second-time-zone setting, indicated by a baton-type, arrow-tipped hand pointing at the 24-hour scale. It is colored in orange in the steel variant, and gilt in the gold one. The Dauphine-style hour and minute hands are rhodiumed, while luminescent substance appears on the hour markers and on the arrow tip of the GMT hand. The stunning dial also comprises a date window which is located at the 6 o’clock position.
Chopard L.U.C GMT One is attached to an elegant, alligator leather strap, with alligator leather lining, fitted with steel or rose gold pin buckle.
