In order to commemorate the revealing of the Shelby 1000 at New York International Auto Show, the premier jewelry and watch designer, David Yurman created a Limited Edition Shelby 1000 watches. Presented during the press conference by Shelby American Inc., the bold looking chronograph, along with a new David Yurman’s eyewear goes perfectly with the exclusive Shelby 1000, the brand’s most powerful car yet.
Inspired by Shelby American’s 50-year long history, especially by the latest brand’s product, the powerful Shelby 1000, the new David Yurman’s watch features a masculine stainless steel case with the diameter of 43.5mm. Its beautifully polished bezel comes with the engraved tachymeter scale that together with the central chrono hand and two chronograph sub-dials on the dial guaranties full performances. Inside the case, there is an iconic Swiss Valjoux 7753 self-winding movement that provides great stability and accuracy.
Along with 30-minutes and 60-seconds sub-dials, the multi-layer galvanic dial, which is nicely stressed by vertical, guilloche racing stripes, features applied hour markers and numerals, as well as the legendary Shelby Cobra insignia that is hand-finished and applied. The cobra snake has also served as the inspiration for the design of a highly textured natural rubber strap which gives David Yurman’s Shelby 1000 timepiece a distinctive, modern sporty look.
Like every car that comes out of Shelby American’s factory, the case-back of the watch is inscribed with Carroll Shelby’s signature. David Yurman will produce a limited series of 150 stainless steel and 150 black PVD versions of this model. As Mr. Yurman explains, the extraordinary dedication to craftsmanship and design, which two renowned brands share, made them collaborating on this interesting project.
After 50 years since it debuted at the New York International Auto Show, Shelby American has returned at this prestigious event by presenting the Shelby 1000. The company improved the power, braking and handling of the 2012 Ford Shelby GT500 to produce the most powerful series of muscle cars which are available in both, street (rated at approximately 950 HP) and the “S/C” track version (rated at over 1,100 HP).
