The jury of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) has announced 72 finalists to compete in 12 categories for the GPHG 2016 awards. Bulgari Serpenti Incantati Skeleton Tourbillon Lumière is among six timepieces competing in the “Ladies’ High-Mech” category.
The Rome-based manufacturer enriches its iconic ladies’ Serpenti watch collection with a high complication watch dubbed Serpenti Incantati Tourbillon Lumière. This newcomer completely renews the theme through a contemporary design. After coiling around the wrist, now for the very first time the serpent is reinvented by wrapping itself around the case. Every part of the reptile’s figure has been completely redesigned and rethought through extremely modern, soft and stylized lines.
The snake literally twines itself around the watch dial, thus framing a completely skeleton-worked in-house manufactured tourbillon caliber BVL 208 hand-wound movement. The mechanical movement oscillates at the semi-rapid frequency of 21,600 alternation per hour (3 Hz) and it is capable to store enough energy to keep the watch working for approximately 64 hours. The movement components are encrusted and finished by hand, involving a number of operations, such as chamfering and polishing, circular graining and snailing.
Bulgari Serpenti Incantati Skeleton Tourbillon Lumière is offered in two variants. The 18-karat rose gold model is set with 209 brilliant-cut diamonds (weighing approximately 2.15 carats) and 2 rubellites (totaling 1.9 carat), whilst the 18-karat white gold version boasts 228 brilliant-cut diamonds and 1 sapphire. Both models are housed in round cases measuring 41mm in diameter each.
The rose gold Serpenti Incantati Skeleton Tourbillon Lumière will be issued in the limited series of 50 pieces, while the white gold timepiece will be produced in only 30 specimens.
This fabulous jewelry timepiece comes with a comfortable leather strap. Depending on the model, the wristlet ends with either rose or white gold folding clasp set with 28 brilliant-cut diamonds (weighing 0.28 carat).
The 72 pre-selected watches for GPHG 2016 annual awards are going to a worldwide tour that will stop off in Seoul, Rome and Dubai, before the final judging that will be held this year on November 10 at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Besides Bulgari Serpenti Incantati Skeleton Tourbillon Lumière in the “Ladies’ High-Mech” category there are five more amazing timepieces: Christophe Claret Marguerite, Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge, Louis Vuitton Tambour Color Blossom Spin Time, Ludovic Ballouard Geneve Upside Down Art Deco and Ulysse Nardin Skeleton Tourbillon Pearl.
