The latest piece from the Dimier women’s collection by Bovet 1822, named Récital 9 Tourbillon Miss Alexandra, comes after Récital 0 watch which was the first one in the series with the tourbillon complication. After the success of the model, the Swiss watchmaker has made en even more complex timekeeper. Due to the architectonics of the hand-wound movement built between a pair of three-quarter plates, it successfully integrates larger sized components, of which the tourbillon cage and its bridges are the most prominent since they look exceptionally attractive. Récital 9 watch pairs the caliber of such structure with a precise and realistic moon phase indication. It is also important to note that the watch has the extended power reserve that lasts for a whole week, which is the recognizable trait of the watchmaker’s products. Interestingly, it is the first watch in the brand’s entire palette which is made with an oval shaped case.
The Dimier 1738 Manufacture Collection – Récital Limited Editions
As it has been mentioned, Recital 9 timepiece comes from the Dimier series of watches which incorporates exclusive units made in restricted series in the company’s workshops. The entire collection was actually named after the brand’s facilities. After the current head of the firm Pascal Raffy had bought Bovet at the start of the millennium, he decided to strengthen the production facilities in order to be able to produce manufacture timepieces whose quality of production is monitored in all stages of the process. That’s why the brand acquired SST group which was renowned for the production of intricate movements and renamed it to Dimier 1738 Manufacture Artisanale de Cadrans et de Sertissages.
Just like all of the watches from the Dimier collection ever since 2009, the Miss Alexandra Tourbillon piece resides between two three-quarter plates. Such construction frees a lot of space for the tourbillon cage which is enlarged, just like the balance. This sort of layout allows higher precision which is supplemented with a visual appeal. As it was the case with the pieces which the brand has previously displayed (for example in its piece for the last edition of the Only Watch auction), this watch is likewise supplied with a one week power reserve which is indicated with a separate display.
Mystery Heart Shaped Hands
Manually-wound caliber 15BM01-MP with 351 components featured in the piece beats at the frequency of 21,600 vph and has the diameter of 15 lignes. The tourbillon carriage is 13.5mm wide and has the feather-light weight of nearly half a gram (0.49g). A tourbillon which completes a revolution in a period of one minute serves as a second indication. Instead of using just a hand as it is commonly the case, Bovet opted for a faceted diamond pointer for a more spectacular appearance. This is achieved in congress with the revealed skeleton movement, very nice moon phase display (which we will describe thoroughly in a bit) and curved central hour and minute hands which reveal their true colors in the moment when they are overlapping, since they form the shape of a heart.
The Moon with the Exact Cartographic Engravings Glows in the Night
Bovet Dimier Récital 9 Tourbillon Miss Alexandra watch complements the tourbillon complication with a high precision indication for stages of the moon (similarly like Graham Geo.Graham The Moon we have recently reviewed). The decision of the brand’s designers was to make a moon complication which will appear as realistic as possible (as it is the case with many recent models, for example Linde Werdelin Oktopus II Moon). The Swiss watchmaker engraved the Moon with exact cartography of the Earth’s satellite on a mirror-polished steel plate. Additionally, the hollowed sections have been treated with a luminous matter in order to replicate the glow of the real Moon. The background or the sky which surrounds the realistic moon disc is engraved on a blue nickel silver plate with PVD treatment which creates the effect of a star-Studded night sky. The moon indication is made without the traditional crescent-shaped aperture and uses two discs which have the finishing that matches the one of the sky. These pallets cover the moon and show the current stage of the moon. To make the feature more functional, Bovet constructed a regulator set inside the cabochon sapphire crown which adjusts it and allows the wearer to set the function without the assistance of a professional. The final touch on the face of the timekeeper is a subtle power reserve indication set just above the realistic moon.
A Red or a White Gold Casing
As it has been said, the watch is actually the first piece by Bovet which features an elongated oval-shaped 18 K gold housing which features the length of 41mm and the width of 37.2mm. Récital 9 Tourbillon Miss Alexandra watch is joined with a black hand-stitched full alligator skin strap with a gold ardillon buckle.
Like all of the pieces form the Dimier 1787 Manufacture series by Bovet, this watch is also made in a limited edition. There are two versions of the watch – with a red gold and a white gold case – both launched in 50 copies. Needless to say, the buckles on the attachments match the materials of the cases. The watch has the basic water resistance of 30 meters.
