Two exceptional luxury brands, Girard-Perregaux and Boucheron, worked together for the third time in order to unite their best skills and create a true masterpiece. Whether you consider them as remarkable products of the haute horology, striking jewelry pieces or simply as wonderful pieces of art, in either case new Cypris Tourbillon watches deserve best remarks.
In order to present white and black swans, which together symbolize perfect love and fidelity, two manufacturers created Cypris Tourbillon with three gold bridges in two variations: a Cypris Tourbillon Black Plumage and a Cypris Tourbillon White Plumage. Boucheron was responsible for dazzling bodies of swans, while Girard-Perregaux gave them life by creating a high-end mechanism that features the brand’s signature tourbillon with three gold bridges.
Renowned as one of the leading Swiss jewelry houses, Boucheron has nicely implemented its expertise in making artistic jewelry pieces into the watchmaking business. The latest proof of the brand’s high-end quality is the 2011 Best Ladies’ Watch Prize that its Crazy Jungle Hathi watch won at the Swiss watch industry’s most important annual competition, held in Geneva. Considering this, it is not a surprise that this great manufacturer came up with such an amazing idea for the design of new Cypris Tourbillon watches. Besides, the marvelous execution of this idea is also quite expected.
Completely set with sparkling stones, both versions of the Cypris Tourbillon watch feature wild variety of luxury materials. The body of the white swan is pawed with 100 blue sapphire stones and over 700 round diamonds. More than 1,380 precious gems adorn wings of the black swan, including black diamonds, combined with blue and violet sapphire stones to highlight the tips of feathers.
The beaks of swans that peacefully lie on diamond set bezels are onyx for the black bird and coral for the white bird. The dial is placed on the chest of the swan, revealing the technological perfection inside the case.
It is a Girard-Perregaux’s signature, three bridges opened tourbillon mechanism that is considered as one of the most beautiful horological complications. Bridges are crafted in white gold, positioned parallely and manually decorated. Each component of the movement is made by hand and polished up to five times in succession. This remarkable complication insures high-precision time measurement. Besides, it is a beautiful aesthetic detail that symbolizes swan’s heartbeat.
It is unknown how much these stunning jewelry timepieces are going to cost, but it is clear that they will cost a fortune like it was the case with the last year’s Boucheron Audacious Hera Tourbillon diamond timepiece with Girard-Perregaux’s inner-work.
