Organized by a renowned British Auction House, Bonhams, the upcoming auction includes over 180 rare vintage watches, limited editions and modern timepieces of the world’s leading watchmakers, estimated over HK$ 14 millions (about 1,800,000 US dollars). Modern Wristwatches Autumn Auction will be organized on November 27, at the Island Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong.
Collectors from all over the world will get a chance to win some of 15 Patek Philippe’s luxury watches from different periods. The most valuable among them, an 18ct rose gold perpetual calendar chronograph manual wind wristwatch, Reference 5970R, is estimated at HK$1 million – 1.3 million (approximately from 130,000 to 167,000 US dollars).
The auction will also include two perpetual calendar manual-winding chronographs – a model from the Third Series in 18ct gold, Reference 3970, estimated at HK$550,000 – 700,000 (about 70,500 – 90,000 US dollars) and a rare model from an earlier series, in 18ct rose gold, estimated at HK$700,000 – 800,000 (about 90,000 – 103,000 US dollars).
High prices are also expected for vintage 1960 Patek Philippe perpetual calendar in 18ct gold, Reference 3448 (HK$550,000 – 740,000), as well as for PT950 platinum automatic annual calendar chronograph, Reference 5960, estimated at HK$600,000 – 700,000.
Some lots at the Bonhams’ Modern Wristwatches Autumn Auction will especially attract glamorous ladies. Our favorites among them are Audemars Piguet 18ct gold diamond watch (HK$390,000 – 550,000) and Piaget Limelight 18ct white gold diamond wristwatch, estimated at HK$250,000 – 350,000.
Besides high quality and extra-luxury wristwatches, the Bonhams’ auction also includes various choices of clocks and pocket watches from Patek Philippe, Jaeger-LeCoultre and other top brands. A true antique which is still in function after more than a century, Patek Philippe keyless pocket watch from 1902, is estimated at HK$140,000 – 210,000.
