In 2012, Blancpain pays tribute to the universal day of love with a special limited edition ladies watch, Saint-Valentin Chronograph 2012. This unique luxury timepiece is produced in the limited quantity of only 14 pieces, each set with precious stones weighing 2.95 karats.
This year’s masterpiece celebrates the most romantic day in the year with a profusion of heart motifs, signature craftsmanship and technical subtlety. This exquisite chronograph with a flyback function is housed in the 18-karat white gold case which sparkles with dazzling splendor. The adorable case measures only 36 mm in diameter and incorporates a fixed bezel and lugs decorated with a row of diamonds. For the best comfort of your lady, this exceptional wristwatch comes with an elegant white alligator leather strap that offers extreme flexibility and easiness of wrist movement.
The front side of the case, as well as its case back are shielded with sapphire crystals that protect the case from scratches and provide a clear view on the dial. According to the manufacturer, the case construction guarantees water-resistance up to 30 meters (100 feet) beneath the water’s surface. On the right side of the case, there is a crown encrusted with a diamond cabochon and two chronograph push buttons set with rubies. The upper one, set at the 2 o’clock position, is used to start or stop the chronograph, while the lower button, at the 4 o’clock position, handles the flyback function.

Underneath the front sapphire glass, there is a fabulous mother of pearl dial with a marquetry-work motif. The outstanding dial is set with 8 diamonds as hour markers and comprises three little heart-shaped sub-dials. In my opinion, the special treat for ladies is the red heart-shaped counterweight of the central sweep seconds hand which is hand-painted with a feather to create a distinctive convex shape.
Saint-Valentin Chronograph 2012 is powered by highly efficient Caliber F185 mechanical movement which provides the full complement of hours, minutes, small seconds, as well as date and chronograph functions. The self-winding movement built on 37 jewels has 308 parts with a rotor (which is encrusted with pink mother of pearl) and it is visible through a sapphire glass case back. Further, the case back is set with four diamonds and heart-shaped ruby.
The chronograph function is displayed by the central sweep seconds hand and two chronograph counters. A 30 minutes chronograph sub-dial is located at the 3 o’clock position, whilst a 12 hour chrono is positioned at the 9 o’clock position. A small seconds counter is displayed at the 6 o’clock position, while the date appearing through an oval window is shown at the 12 o’clock position.
Each of these fourteen delightful timepieces is presented in a precious wooden box delicately lined with white nappa leather, and it is available exclusively in the boutiques of Blancpain.
