Famous China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe (CDPPAT) received the donation of 1’100’000 RMB ($160,550) from the charity event in Shanghai, organized by Blancpain. At the gala dinner that hosted more than 300 guests, the world’s oldest watchmaker presented and auctioned its one-of-a-kind Villeret timepiece, showing the rare art on its micro-painted enamel dial.
Strongly supporting the welfare of the society, Blancpain has already participated in numerous charity actions around the globe, from “Only Watch” auctions to the environmental projects dedicated to marine life. This year, the renowned Swiss watchmaker initiated the event dedicated to the remarkable China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe (CDPPAT), whose breathtaking performances have demonstrated the beauty of life and the strength of going beyond its limit in more than 60 countries. “A group that is currently regarded as in need of care and help has presented us with amazing arts with their disabled bodies, inspiring our life through indomitable will and calling out with sincere emotions”, said Liang Wendao, a famous cultural scholar in China, at the charity gala in Shanghai.
For the occasion, Blancpain created the fabulous “Pièce Unique” watch for the Villeret Collection, with a unique micro-painted enamel masterwork presenting the classic image of the oriental landscape painting. Considered for one of the most demanding and rarest traditional enamel processes, the micro-painted technique gives the exquisite aesthetic quality to this timepiece. Vivid colors, transparent and smooth luster and beautiful carving on the white enamel plate are the final results of the artistic concept that required numerous color tests, delicate drawing through highly magnified glass and the careful selection of the finest brush strokes. Once finished, this piece of art is placed inside an 18 karat red gold case with the diameter of 45mm. The back-side of the case reveals a nicely decorated mechanism, showcasing a vivid shape of a butterfly.
Regarding this event, Blancpain’s Vice President of China, Liao Yu, said that charity culture is similar to exquisite arts. “They both can arouse unlimited goodwill in people and play an unmatched and positive role in social progress. By adhering to the good will and tenacious spirit in individuals, CDPPAT demonstrates the beauty of arts to the world”, said Mr. Yu.
CDPPAT is also highly engaged in numeral public charity activities and, during the last four years, it has donated RMB 8,800,000 to China’s public welfare undertakings and USD 815,000 to the international charity.
