Design simplicity, classic looks and commemoration – these are three characteristics that describe Ball Watch’s newest creation that pays tribute to the 110th anniversary of the Wright brothers’ first flight. Just like other timepieces from its Trainmaster Collection, the novelty brings back design code and technical excellence of the brand’s first classical model that satisfied high chronometric standards. Featuring characteristics of vintage pilot watches, the Trainmaster First Flight offers dual time-zone and date information at a glance, with a great precision and reliability. Ball Watch has produced this interesting model with everlasting design in the Limited Series of 600 pieces.

Ball Trainmaster First Flight Leather Watch
On December 17, it will be exactly 110 years since American aviation pioneers Wilbur (1867-1912) and Orville Wright (1871-1948) entered the history as first ever who successfully made a motorized flight. Just as the Wright brother marked the golden age of the industrial revolution in the United States, the founder of Ball Watch Company, Webb C. Ball, also gave a strong contribution to the epoch, by presenting the first chronometric standards to be followed by American railroad companies. Introduced at the end of the 19th century, his system known by its high standards for watch accuracy and reliability ensures that railroads run smoothly, which was very important for the industrial development. His system also served as the inspiration for the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) which issued its own certification standards in 1973.

Ball Trainmaster First Flight Steel Watch
The new Ball Watch Trainmaster First Flight features a mid sized case made of stainless steel with the diameter of 41 mm. Its satin finish makes a nice contrast with a polished bezel and a great looking stainless steel bracelet. For the more elegant look, there is a choice of a black leather strap. A black dial features two levels – the central part with an appealing vertical line pattern which gives a sense of deepness, and the outer segment with applied hour markers and a minute track. At the 6 o’clock position, there is a second time-zone sub-dial, while a large double-date window takes the 12 o’clock position.

By applying an advanced Swiss technology – micro tubes containing luminescent 3H gas – to markers and central hands, the U.S. based brand makes the watch highly readable even in the total dark. Micro tubes on hands and 12 o’clock marker glow in yellow, while other markers glow green in dark. Besides, the design of hour and minute hands evokes the distinctive elliptical propeller blades of early airplanes.
The transparent sapphire crystal case-back looks really great with the silk-screen printed design of the Wright brothers’ first flight. It reveals a BALL 651 Caliber self-winding mechanism, based on an ETA 2892 movement.
