Inspired by the watches that John Arnold exclusively created for King George III and the royal court, this exceptional collection of three masterpieces represents the brand’s expertise in classical hand engraving. Named after the one of the most famous vessels in English maritime history, the HMS Victory Set from the Arnold & Son Royal Collection shows three different, perfectly sculpted images from the vessel, each completely engraved by hand. These extraordinary timepieces will be available in the limited edition of just 28 sets.
Participating in the American War of Independence, the French Revolutionary War and the Napoleonic wars during more than forty years, HMS Victory deserved special place in the English history. Inspired by the breathtaking stories about the iconic vessel that also served as the Lord Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, Arnold & Son’s master engravers reconstructed three scenes from the glorious days of British Royal Navy, implementing an amazing number of details.
The dial of the first timepiece from the set (ref. 1LCAP.S05A.C110A) depicts the vessel at sea, illuminated by rays of sunshine which emerge from the clouds. The second one (ref. 1LCAP.S06A.C110A) shows guns ablaze during the battle with the French fleet and finally, the third timepiece from the HMS Victory Set (ref.1LCAP.S07A.C110A) which is my favorite one, presents one of the gun decks inside the ship.
Created by the brand’s master engraver, these dials are later duplicated in silver for the series. However, these exceptional masters additionally improved each final duplicated dial, in order to provide the thrilling 3-D effect. Around these artistic creations, there is a minute track. A highly polished 18 karat rose gold case with the diameter of 40 mm seems like the perfect frame for the engraving. The back-side of the case is transparent, covered with anti-reflective sapphire crystal that reveals the inner-parts.
I am talking about a high-end A&S1001 Calibre with haute horlogerie finishing, including hand-chamfered bridges with polished edges, a fine circular graining and Côtes de Genève stripes, with blued screws. This hand-winding mechanism is crafted in rhodium-plated nickel-silver and comprises 21 jewels. Thanks to two barrels, it provides a superb power-reserve of 80 hours.
The HMS Victory watches are available either with hand-stitched brown or black alligator leather straps. While the first two models from the set will be also available individually, the third model showing the interior of the vessel will be released only as a part of the set.
