Armin Strom’s Skeleton Pure in 18-karat white gold celebrates the mechanical architecture of a movement by accentuating the layered construction of the movement’s part. The exceptional timepiece was unveiled on the occasion of the WatchTime New York which is announced as the largest luxury watch event in entire America.
The beating heart of the watch is the in-house manufactured caliber ARM09-S which has been skeletonized, whereas its bridges have been accentuated through 3D PVD colorizations. The main plate and the bridges of this manually wound movement are meticulously plated with rhodium by Armin Strom’s artisans, while its double-barrel provides no less than 8 days of power reserve when fully charged. The impeccable mechanism is assembled from 146 individual parts and it is built on 34 jewels. The movement’s frequency is 18,000 alternations per hour (2.5 Hz).
The movement bridges receive special finishing in an electroplating bath where the thickness is controlled with the duration of immersion and the current flow between the two poles. These bridges have been cut away, whilst the remaining surfaces are engraved by hand of the brand’s artisans. The word Pure in the name refers to the pure, restrained profile of the mechanism which is modern and less lavishly encrusted when compared to typical skeletons. The main decorative features of the caliber ARM09-S are hand polishing, brushing and beveling.
Armin Strom Skeleton Pure is housed in 18-karat white gold case which measures 43mm in diameter. The case boasts the brand’s signature „lip“ on the bezel which can be personalized and engraved at the request of its future owner.
Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a gorgeous skeleton dial with hour and minute hands filled with luminous substance for better visibility regardless of lighting conditions. A small seconds and a power reserve indicator recognizable for the small red-tipped hand share the same sub-dial placed at the 9 o’clock position. The sapphire crystal case back also protects the movement from the ingress of water up to 50 meters (about 165 feet).
This exquisite newcomer comes attached to a genuine dark blue alligator horn-back strap, ending with 18-karat white gold ardillon buckle. There is also an additional dark blue rubber strap.
Armin Strom Skeleton Pure in White Gold (ref. WG15-PW.05) is produced in the limited series of 100 specimens. The retail price is 43,200 Swiss Francs which is approximately $43,580.
