The newest timepiece from the house of Armin Strom is the bold and robust model named Armin Strom Edge Double Barrel. This newcomer is housed in a colossal black PVD-coated stainless steel case measuring 46.80mm in diameter, which makes it the largest Armin Strom wristwatch ever (so far, Armin Strom timepieces were housed in 43.40mm cases).

The large-sized case incorporates the black PVD-coated steel bezel enhanced with a series of cutouts which augment the visual interest of the case still further. There is also a screw down crown with side protection. The case is shielded with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both sides. The case construction offers water resistance up to 50 meters (approximately 165 feet).

Underneath the front glass lies an open-worked dial featuring a new design with a sportier approach. What is left is an outer black flange with large Arabic numeral hour indicators and the 60-second register with a power reserve indicator placed at the 9 o’clock position. As you can see on these images, the hour track now features large silvery white Arabic numerals for a good contrast and perfect readability in all kinds of lightening situations. Furthermore, the large-shaped hour and minute hands are filled with lume substance to provide perfect legibility of the time regardless of lighting conditions.

Armin Strom Edge Double Barrel Watch (ref. ST16-EB.90) is powered with the new in-house manufactured caliber ARM16 hand-wound movement. The manual-wind mechanism offers an impressive 8-day power reserve thanks to its double barrels. The new caliber consists of 194 individual parts, it is built on 34 jewels and oscillates at the frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz).

The in-house made movement features spider-shaped crown wheels which are fully exposed on the dial side, so the wearer can observe them turning as he winds the timepiece. The movement’s main plate and the bridges have been treated in grey ruthenium and encrusted with cross-grinding finish and hand-beveled edges. From the rear, the view through the sapphire display back is equally panoramic as from the dial side.

The new Edge Double Barrel is teamed up with a black alligator leather strap, with large white contrasting stitching, ending with a double-fold clasp in stainless steel PVD black. The watch comes with an additional black rubber strap. It is produced in the limited quantity of only 100 specimens. The retail price is CHF 26,900 (about $27,600).
