The latest novelty by Vicotinox Swiss Army is meant to demonstrate the brand’s ability to create extremely resilient and quality models. Considering the manufacturer’s expertise in crafting long-lasting objects from stainless steel, it comes as no surprise that the brand is capable of making a very sturdy and resistant watch. However, the level of robustness in I.N.O.X. timepiece is still quite astonishing, since it can function without problems even after it is dropped from the height of 33 feet, ran over by a tank, shoved in a washing machine or dipped into acidic solutions. Inside the extremely resistant casing there is, unfortunately, a quartz movement. Still, this decision significantly lowers the price of the watch, which makes it pretty affordable and prevents any damages that would be caused with the inclusion of a more delicate mechanical beating heart. Victorinox I.N.O.X. is available in three different colors – black, green and blue – and it has the price tag of $525.

Throw It, Run It Over, Heat It, Dip It – I.N.O.X. Can Withstand Almost Anything

New I.N.O.X. timekeeper is made as a part of the commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the brand that started off as a manufacturer of Swiss Army knives. Envisioned as the brand’s champion of resilience, the watch certainly lives up to the expectations. The list of challenges it is able to withstand repeatedly and to still function properly is quite remarkable. They include being dropped from the height of 33 feet on concrete and being ran over by a Swiss Army tank which weighs amazing 64 tons. Moreover, the timepiece by Victorinox can likewise deal with being thrown inside a  washing machine during a two hour long program that raises the heat to a nearly boiling temperature of 194 degrees Fahrenheit (90 degrees Celsius). Its ability to deal with such high temperatures is still limited to short periods. However, the temperature span it is able to withstand continuously is to say the least astonishing since it can operate between -60 and 160 degrees Fahrenheit (-51 to 71 degrees Celsius). Finally, it can also withstand contact with nitric and sulfuric acid solutions. We should say that the watch also possesses quite respectable water resistance of 666 feet (200 meters).

Ruggedness without Compromising the Style

The amazing robustness of the newcomer still does not compromise its looks and the watch is certainly not too bulky. Its case includes a screw-down crown with protection and a screwed-in case-back which is naturally made of solid metal. The fixed bezel of the watch actually sits on a higher plane than its scratch resistant sapphire crystal with a triple anti-reflective treatment. This is done so that if the watch is dropped, the sapphire would not be directly hit. Instead, the majority of the impact would be amortized by the bezel. By the way, we should say that the robust case is made of 316L stainless steel and has the diameter of 43 mm. There is even an additional protective bumper delivered with the watch which should be put on if the watch is to face extreme conditions. The bumper is in the color of the face and made of nylon and silicone.

As for the quite simple dial of the Victorinox novelty, it features stamped hour markers which is an additional type of protection that preserves them intact even when the crystal is damaged. These indices, as well as hour and minute hands are treated with luminous coating. When looking at the dial of the Victorinox novelty, one can also notice a red central seconds hand and a date aperture tucked in between four and five o’clock positions.

The functioning of the watch is based on reliable Ronda 715 movement. It is a five jeweled quartz movement with some of its parts embellished with gold plating. The necessity to switch the battery that powers the caliber is shown with an end-of-life indicator. Finally, for the strap of I.N.O.X, Victorinox Swiss Army chose a band made of genuine rubber.

Victorinox I.N.O.X. Blue Watch

The extreme newcomer is made in three different versions with the matching dial and rubber colors. The serial number 241682.1 is black, the reference number 24683.1 is in olive green, whereas the blue version bears the reference 2461688.1. Victorinox I.N.O.X. hits the shops in September and will be sold at the price of $525.
